I was at a pool yesterday enjoying the holiday and a few 20-somethings nearby loudly kept using the word adulting in the context of, "I don't want to adult tomorrow." I figure it means going to work, but do you think they are talking more about not wanting the maturity and/or responsibilities of being an adult? If so why not just say, "I don't want to go to work tomorrow."?

Side note: I'm a 20-something as well, but has no clue why using that adjective can be used as a verb now.

OP is going to have a hard life if he can't figure this out on his own or use urban dictionary

Yeah, but where else can you get so many downvotes by asking a question?

it's probably because the majority of posters on here are bitter about having to face the harsh reality that adulting has brought them

Are these the same people that speak in fragments, e.g. they begin a statement with "That moment when you realize (insert any first world problem)" without actually including a result of that moment?

I think it's actually an older term that's being recycled, I heard deadbeats use that term when I was in my twenties

I'd imagine so. I overheard them saying were hellbent on getting the perfect tanned for a party barge weekend with a "Insta-Hot" theme to it (And yes, I can use context clues to figure out what "Insta-Hot" means.)

It means they engage in adult activities such as watching porn and having BDSM sessions.

Just another way text messaging/social media is dumbing down this world. I'm surprised they just didn't say "I don't want to #adult tomorrow." So ghey
