A dollar each time they show up. Retract 50 cents for every time they don't.

I do 20% for good service. The older I have gotten though, the more I just order it to go. Still tip, but don't have to pay for drinks, the most expensive item on the menu.

They pay taxes on estimated tips
This is total bull shite.
I've never once heard of this and I was a server during highschool, college and a year or so afterwards.

Regardless of service, if you're not willing to pay 15%, stay the frick home.
Just because you are a server doesn't mean you are entitled to an automatic 15-20%.
I'm pretty understanding of servers. If you're just having a bad day, or it's super busy, I get it. But I've had servers before where they never provided refills, never pre-bussed my table and I saw them constantly on their phone texting/playing games rather than tending to their tables. Some, I never saw at all once they took my order until it was time to provide the check. People like that are not deserving of 15% if anything at all.

Maybe they should find a job they are more suited for if they don't give a shite about their customer(s).
Waiting tables takes patience, but it's not difficult. It just takes someone that likes dealing with people and actually cares that their tables are taking their time and money to eat at their dining establishment.

20% across the board or you are dirty af.

Usually 20%. More if I get excellent service.

Had a cheap Mexican combo plate earlier and tipped 50%

If cash, and rounding up to say a $20 leaves me a tad under 20%, so be it.
Otherwise 20%
Otherwise 20%

Depends on if your wife is with me

15% and up. I've tipped 50.00 before. Depends on service.
Posted on 3/12/17 at 7:49 pm to PeteRose
depends, but the least i leave is 20%, but i mainly leave 25-30ish%.
And i've stated why, if i had to do that job and deal with you pud wackers and r shitty attitudes and ways, i would grab a chair from the bar and beat you near death.
But since i cannot do that, i won't be doing that job, and i respect the people that do put up with you shite heads. So i make up for ur shitty attitude and tips.

Apparently there are a lot of servers on the OT, encouraging each other to tip heavily.
Not surprising, I guess.

Or there might be a lot of people on the OT who aren't functional retards and know how to tip,

See, I don't understand this mindset. Why are you going out to dine if you are just going to go down a checklist. I've been lucky enough to dine at some amazing places. The best waitstaff are the ones you don't notice and, never need anything.
To the ones that are saying they shouldn't have to tip more because they got a 50$ steak vs. a 20$ salad. Keep your cheap arse out of the nice restaurants. Please just frequent your family dining, chicken fried everything neighborhood dive. If you are paying for a 50$ steak, odds are your server isn't Flo from Mel's diner.

Being a cheap arse is your fault. I really hope you have only a couple of places to eat out. They all know you and you are not a priority. You are the cheap schmuck and will not get the staffs 100%. Oh, and congrats on consuming various types of and copious quantities of bodily fluids.

15% unless it's super service.
