Beaches are all kind of the same unless you are some sort of world class surfer, which I am not.

My phone blowing up from shite at work.
I actually took a family vacation in Hawaii a few years ago and came back a less effective human being. I was returning calls and emails on the beach from my phone while the rest of the family was swimming with fish and that was the point where I had a shift. I felt good about making sure everything was in order(had to put out a couple fires that couldn't be ignored) at work, but also "wtf I'm in Hawaii on a beach working.". Which, the ability to work on the beach in Hawaii was good, but I shut it the frick down. I ignored everything for the rest of the week.
After returning, I work fewer hours and spend more time with my wife and kids.. . I think I overcorrected but it's all good. I am not advancing projects like I used to as a result, but I'm enjoying life and doing well. I party with the wife like I never could have done in college or even several years after. I coach my kids and spend a ton of time teaching them and playing their sport. Vacation? Time to chill.
