Like: Fantastic food, beautiful women with almost no fatties in any age group, safe cities, clean and reliable public transportation.
Dislike: Far away from family and friends in Louisiana and Florida, too much group think and passivity.

I live in the small town of FuhQueue in MisterEffBeeEye parish, and I don’t really have anything bad to say about it. We’re on about 10 acres and don’t have much in the way of neighbors.
The worst: Our poor arse podunk town can’t keep the small road that leads to our private road in decent shape.
The best: No one can find our house. Pizza guys and new delivery drivers are always lost trying to find us. We’ve found packages at our back door, and there is no walkway to our backdoor from our driveway (but there is to the front door). The best we can figure is they parked in the subdivision on the far side of our property and walked through our extremely large yard to the back door.
Also good is that NO, BR, and LC are, roughly, at most a couple hours’ drive, so I can make day trips to see family and get better shopping. But I don’t have to put up with the crime and stupidity of a city. There’s 2 stoplights in my whole town. It’s like drivers’ heaven. I can understand why people get road rage when there’s a stoplight on every block and they never get anywhere because jackasses block intersections and drive like idiots.

Live on the TN river.
Like: peace and quiet, scenery / view, wildlife, neighbors, water activities.
Dislike: wind… especially coming out of the west where it had a 7 mile unobstructed shot at us, tornadoes… experienced 3 in our 23 years being here, not convenient to shopping, doctors/ hospital, etc., lot to maintain and keep up.

Friendly people from all backgrounds and walks of life (Military community)
Cost of living.
Great healthcare.
Lots of high salary jobs for the region.
Proximity to Atlanta, Charlotte and the Coast. I can leave my office at quitting time and be on the beach catching snook at daylight after a 6 hour drive and don't have to contend with Hurricanes. I can catch trout, flounder and redfish in less than 2 hours.
DISLIKES:
Humidity
Lack of quality duck hunting
6 hour drive to catch snook
Waaaaaaaaayyyyyyy too far from the gulf stream
Dysfunctional downtown area

Great neighbors and friends
lots of jobs
world class heath care
two airports - one hub, so tons of non-stop flight options
very short trips to hunt and fish
great restaurant scene
three major sports
can potentially play golf 365 days a year (rain or freeze permitting)
great arts scene
very easy commute - max 20 minutes at rush hour
great church
Dislike:
County government is a disaster - city government is not much better although I live in another incorporated city within H-Town which has fantastic government.
crime
lack of NHL
summer weather is starting to really wear me down.
flat landscape
property taxes

What do you like most and least about where you currently live?
I live in Lafayette. What I like most about where I live is that it's close to family, and to friends that I've had for over 20 years.
I least like the climate and topography.
We've considered moving in the past, even interviewed for jobs in other cities. But, we have ultimately decided to stay here for the above stated reasons, also we came to the conclusion that if we moved elsewhere we would spend the vast majority of our vacations/holidays traveling to visit family.

Temple TX
Cons:
It’s a slow way of life and there is not a lot to eat or shop
Hideous presence on I35.
People from Austin and Dallas escape to here.
Growth and capitalism at all costs. Way too much new development because of the above point and developers take 0 account for trees or beauty. Stop cutting down 20 year old trees for a few extra parking spots.
Pros:
It’s a very pretty city with a ton of trails and activities for kids off of the interstate.
Cost of living is laughably low
Fairly red
Good healthcare with a major research hospital
