What do you do when a counter service restaurant doesn’t have an item you want?

Went to chipotle today for a 2 for 1 deal with the fiancée. Get up to the counter and start my burrito. Halfway through they say they’re out of black beans for the entire day (it’s only lunch). What kind of burrito place runs out of black beans at lunch??

I don’t really make a big fuss about it. I just ask them if they’re out for the day or just for the next few minutes until the next batch is done. They say it’s for the entire day. At that point I basically tell them don’t worry about it because I didn’t really want a burrito without black beans. I felt bad but I’m not really going to pay for something I don’t want and wasn’t warned about before they started making my burrito.

The people behind the counter looked so confused about it. Maybe I’m high maintenance but Idk I just really did not want a beanless burrito . Am I the a-hole or am I over thinking this,

If the order isn't submitted then there's no real loss

Who eats black beans on a burrito?

Pretty sure it was you.

You must really love black beans lol. I would probably not get a burrito if they were out of specific meat I wanted but beans??!!

Even if its the reason I went to a restaurant for a specific item I still would order something else because Im not a drama queen.

My valet usually sends me a text message that reads (and I’m paraphrasing) : ALERT: the establishment is out of foie gras. Shall we opt for wagyu beef and watercress?”

You’re overthinking it - who cares

Restaurants run out of things - sometimes the deliveries don’t get there or they underestimated and didn’t have enough

It’s inconvenient but that’s life

the chipotle on magazine has become a no go zone

always out of every ingredient and you'll wait five minutes before being served because apparently online/delivery orders are more important

Can't say I've ever had (or desired) black beans on a burrito. Do they not carry another kind? I've never been.

Online and third party delivery services have further ruined the dining experience that was already on tenuous ground

Yes, restaurants run out of things but, if they can't make what I want, I'm not paying for a pity burrito.

Those employees are hourly, they DGAF.

If my significant other ever threw an “im not going eat” tantrum over fricking black beans, I would leave them pretty quickly.

I didn’t not eat. I just made food at home instead. It was more like a shoulder shrug situation than any kind of tantrum.

Also I am shocked by the number of people who don’t put black beans on a burrito. Not sure I’ve ever seen someone eat anything else on one.
