Legalize marijuana and gambling. In this legalization law it would have to have a clause that proceeds from marijuana and gambling to be distributed equally to education and infrastructure- meaning roads.
Next, I would give tax incentives to big industries that would move here . They would have to hire a big percentage of labor within the state to get the tax incentives.
Also, I would give incentive based welfare to the poor. A big incentive would be their children's education. If your child's grades are in top ten percentile you can expect a check in the mail every semester.
Last, cleaning the state would also be a top priority. I would hire private companies to pick up trash along our roads and fine the litter bugs more than any other state.

I like the plan but it would probably not help, same as how gaming was claimed to help.I
Here is what would happen...
Let's say we currently spend 10 million on education. Let's also assume marijuana would bring in another 10 million dedicated to eduction. Great, how we have 20 million for education right?
No, the state would take the original 10 million and redirect it to something else and we would be right where we are now.
That is my problem with so called dedicated tax increases. It does not mean more money will go to the item. It is just a shell game.

Elect politicians at all levels whose motivation is honest and faithful service rather than enriching themselves and their cronies bank accounts.
I realize that's a heavy lift and has been since the Huey Long days.

Go back to the ‘70s and ‘80s and get rid of the corrupt politicians who scared off all the oil companies to Houston.
If our politicians hasn’t been so damn greedy band stupid NOLA would be the 4th largest city in the country and Houston would be nothing.

I’ve been to numerous other states and the trash on the side of the road is noticeably worse in Louisiana. I’ve seen prisoners out picking up trash every where else. With how much crime occurs in Louisiana you think they could be good at having a Clean state
It's amazingly infuriating

Erase the entire governmental structure and constitution and model it after a more successful state.
Honestly, what is holding Louisiana back is its citizens.
The state isn’t fixable, ISO.

That's the biggest problem in La. Gov't. Everyone has their hand out filling up their pockets. It's embarrassing

As an relocated Louisianan (now in Texas), here are the main reasons I have no intention of moving back:
1) I have kids
That’s it. I cannot see any benefit the state offers young people. Education, economy, safety, etc are major deficiencies.
Ironically the biggest motivator I would have to move back is i would want my kids to experience the culture of Louisiana that I grew up with: family get togethers, crawfish boils, tailgating, music, etc
It seems as if Louisianans are always too busy doing the later to every sit down and fix the former. I’ve always said “the best part about Louisiana is the people, but what makes the state so bad is the people”
The state needs to attract/retain “quality” people:
-improve tourism and new tax revenue (free the weed)
-refine TOPS (if you leave the state within 10 years of graduating from college, then you pay back your tuition assistance)
-eliminate state income tax and increase property taxes (put that money towards independent school systems)
-completely redo the education system from Kindergarten to Higher Education (this could be a completely different thread, which usually shows up on the OT weekly)
-seek new industry beyond our current portfolio of refining, tourism, agriculture, lawyers and taxes (technology, management services, Manufacturing, etc)
-improve Hwy management system (loops, tolls, HOV, etc)
