No. If it were profitable we would be doing it.

No, plastic (like glass and paper) loses its mechanical properties when recycled. It has limited use as a feedstock for recycling, unlike metals which are infinitely recyclable.

Coke wants pretty bottles so they’ll always be first run plastic

Hippies could drink kombucha out of 10th run plastic if they wanted to but nobody cares enough about the earth to drink something out of an ugly bottle

I'm drilling a 32,750' oilwell that will produce ~25,000 bpd. All alternatives fuels are useless! Fossil fuels won't be replaced for another 1,239 years!

I'm not trying to shite on your thought but a quick google or at least minimal research would show that this has already been invented. As the comments state that the energy required at scale is too much compared to what you get. Now if the goal is to get rid of plastics I love this route to a point. It still isn't practical. Find a way to reduce the energy in production and maybe you have a case.

In the USA, this shite is in a lot of food products.
So, it ain't just gas and diesel. AND, we wonder:
"Why are we getting cancer?"

What else can we do with plastic waste?

An uncle made serious bank on it in the 1960's. After figuring out the profit cycle would sell his three plants to doctor and lawyer investors to foreclose just before profitable again, Rinse and repeat

He made the first plastic boat paddles.

Ended up owning the majority of the largest bank in Beaumont, TX and bought up commercial property out the wazoo when the price of oil collapsed in the 1980's

For starters consumer plastics are all alloys. Compounders add things like talc, and a whole host of other things to get the qualities they want. Your standard milk jugs has a lot of talc in it to form rigid matrices. Cushioned insoles are compounded with 80% mineral oil to get all the little bubbles.

In a lab with controlled conditions, but not a single drop of oil produced shows abiotic origins. This is no different than the idea than a lightning strike of primordial soup with no pure ingredients caused life to begin, including complex starches and DNA.

Only the clueless believe he abiotic theory
