I could sense your seriousness in some posts. You could tell an operator touched you once.

Overall it was disguised pretty well.

Operators get paid as much as they do bc they’re the ones that die if something goes wrong. Not many people willing to put their lives out there every day

It's interesting you can sense things from someone you've never met through an electronic transmission via an IP. Another invaluable skill of an operator I guess. Add that to being able to read when a Guage is between a pizza slice.

Not an operator.

Sensing bullshite is a good trait when dealing with operators though.

Plant operators make me mad because they're more successful and better at life

There had been ENTIRELY too much petty arguing in this thread for you to not be involved.

They are the scum of the Earth. They act like they make 500k a year but they have 7 credit cards maxed out and want you to believe they make more than they really do

They're more likely to die commuting to and from work

I'm about sick of industry workers pretending they're fricking heroes on par with people getting shot at in foreign countries

What about the poor scaffold builders, hydro blasters, and other dozen crafts that are in the more hazardous atmosphere more often?

Operators do not have enough field presence to get hazard pay. Maybe they get a stipend for being expert political strategist and control room sports columnists.

An operators job is to eliminate the hazards for those crafts. If they aren't then they aren't doing their job.

Perceived risk is not the same as actual risk.

I just get a sense of who might be an operator when out at a restaurant. They love twin peaks and the tilted kilt. And they love bragging about how much money they make to the waitresses.

I have a lot of clients in the petrochemical industry and I provide financial services to them.

I am betting that means you are a bank teller working by the hour for slightly more than minimum wage, with at most general studies degree. There is no way you have ever worked a salaried professional job of any kind, unless as someone already said it is state or federal civil service.

Yes this is true!

Operators also love to vape, because they’re not on a diet or health kick, but rather a “lifestyle change”. So vaping is necessary to eliminate the cigarettes while eating nothing but broccoli and chicken breast every Monday and Tuesday.

That is irrelevant, airline pilots are more likely to die driving to the airport, planes being the safest mode of transportation, yet they get paid what they do because if they screw up lots of people die.
