What do 18 wheelers get pulled over for?

When I was driving home today had a trooper zoom past me from no where to pull over a semi truck a few cars ahead. I had been behind him for a few miles and he never sped or did anything.

Is it because they miss weigh stations or something?

I believe as commercial vehicles, they can be pulled over for a safety inspection, at any time for any reason

Not sure if he is serious but my friend who is a LSP says over half his traffic stops are 18 wheeler drivers. Usually speeding in the passing lane. He must really have it after those guys.

Probably swerving in the left lane and running a car off the road because they didn't want to take off their cruise control.

I'd donate half my salary to charity if the trucks on I-12 sped in the passing lane

The truck speed over the basin is 55 and they're restricted to the right lane but I've never seen an 18 wheeler pulled over there. Most go 65 and pass all day.

I’ve rarely seen an 18 wheeler even doing the speed limit, much less above it.

There was new regulation put in place back in December that requires all of them to now have ELDs (electronic logging devices) so they can no longer fudge their log books.

Starting 4/1 they can have their trucks pulled off the road and can’t drive again until they have them installed.

Right now it’s just a citation.

I would suspect mostly DOT inspections.
