re: What did you learn today?

I learned that petsmart is a thousand times cheaper to get my dogs vaccinations and prescriptions than the vet I’ve been getting reamed by for years.

I learned you could save a lot of money by switching to GEICO.

it sort of means this. The spleen is involved in the immune system, just not a part that is responsible for protecting you from the pathogens that cause the common cold. That was the only part of your statement that was false. Not trying to call you out or anything, just pointing it out

it definitely helps fight infections of more serious pathogens though! Patients are more susceptible to bacterial infections that cause pneumonia and meningitis, as well as intracellular parasites that cause malaria and other nasty things

So, one without a spleen would be more likely to get more serious infections/diseases that may start out with symptoms similar to those of a common cold, but then progress to something more serious?
