I don't think the people who never saw it as blue/black understand how obviously blue/black it was.

Here are the actual colors from the dress in the photo:

A sky-blue color and a very dark brownish-gray.

How anybody saw white and gold blows my mind.

gold
Im not speaking for every white and gold person, but when I see white it is really a light ivory/bluish white, and the gold is a rusty brown gold.

I have seen both, and now can see both on demand. I am here to try and bring the OT back together. We are falling apart at the seams

I don't get how anyone could see the colors blue and black in a completely washed out picture. I don't get the science behind that at all.

It's not completely washed out... it just looks lighter.

Instead of seeing royal blue and jet black, it looks like sky blue and grayish-black.

It still looks like a blue and black dress, just an obviously blue and black dress that is washed out by the light making the colors lighter.

I cant explain it. I was like you yesterday. Now, I simply look at it for a few seconds and by brain then sees black and blue. I then relax my mind and it goes back to white and gold

people are taking into account the washed out nature of the photo and naming the color they think the dress actually is. No one can say that the color in the photo is straight black, or that the color in the photo is dark blue.

This. And since the original question is what color is the dress and not what color does the dress appear in this picture, the correct answer is blue and black.

Yes, but the blue is obviously blue no matter what. It's not white at all.
