Aside from the obvious differences in the music scene, Charlotte reminds me a lot of Nashville. Solid city for up and coming young professionals.

What Atlanta was 30 years ago.

Nailed it!
Wife and I lived there for a good bit early 2010’s. It’s a place with no identity.
Luckily we’re boaters and outdoors people so we could find stuff to do.

I love Belmont. Great little downtown with restaurants, beer bars (?did that brewery open up finally behind Nellie?). Bike shop downtown. Close access to whitewater center. If I were investing, Belmont would be top on the list, with the light rail planned there (although who knows if light rails/trains are in the post covid world).

It makes Ric Flair say "wooooooo" like Frau Blücher does to those horses in young Frankenstein

Get a place near Queens Rd and send your eventual kid to private school

frick the naysayers. Charlotte is a super clean, quaint, serene city with a lot going for it. Since you’re basically my age, I’d recommend renting in SouthEnd first and experience the best part of the city. If you like breweries and fine women then that’s your spot. It’s definitely not hipster/granola... that’s NoDa. Some say Charlotte is bland and soulless... I argue that it feels that way because it’s a newer city that’s largely white-collar.
I live in ATL, but I will say that Charlotte definitely feels more like home for me whenever I visit. As someone who is engaged but assumingly still looking to have a good bit of fun before completely settling down, you would fit right in to what Charlotte has to offer. Congrats on the move and enjoy it, it’s a great city.

Lived there for a few years in the Ballantyne area. Love NC
Clean city and lots of good restaurants.
Cowfish in South Park area
Firebirds is my all time favorite in Ballantyne.
For a great view of the city uptown at night go to Fahrenheit. But just get the drinks bc their food is no good.
You’ll get to see the Saints play once year a too as an added bonus.
Mountains just a short drive away. I’ll probably eventually move back there

Oh and if you want a cool place to live to raise a family one day check out Tega Cay, SC. Dated a girl there and I was impressed with that place. A “public” golf course that seems private, lake right there, and they are always putting on little concerts and things to do for kids. I looked it up and it’s actually rated one of the top 10 places to live in the US.
About 30-40 mins from Charlotte.

I do.
It was originally Pardots HQ but when we acquired them in 2012 it became a Salesforce hub.
I think we have around 600 employees in the office. Now it's changes for good with covid. I'm in sales so a lot of people are working from home for good.

I lived in Charlotte about 20 years ago. I didn’t find it soulless then, but it did seem to be in an identity crisis. I lived in Myers Park(in a sweet garage apartment at a doctors house) so my perception may have been off. A lot of the long time residents near me still thought if Charlotte as a “small” town.
I really enjoyed Charlotte. I moved there front Atlanta and enjoyed it much more than Atlanta. People in Charlotte were a lot friendlier.

Thanks for your take.
Random side question why don't you post on the polo board anymore? You were a dime a dozen when it came to liberal posters but I appreciated your takes regardless.
