It's weird that you searched for this thread and didn't need anything from it

Ah one of the all-time OT threads right here. Admins should just sticky this.
Can we get a pilondial cyst board?

This thread is so gross, yet fascinating.

OP is banned for posting nudes on the SEC Rant last night. I guess we will never get an update.

just to reinforce how unwelcome one of these is
1) worst pain of my life without question
2) lancing can work, it worked for me
3) immediate relief but the smell made me hurl all over the op room
4) open wound maintenance for a week or so, you'll need someone who loves you enough to deal with the smell and the overall grossness
mine never came back

The surgery for me was no where near as bad as peopld say. My surgeon was able to close the wound. Never really had any pain. The first time i really sat correctly after the surgery was when i went to drive. Apparently, some fluid wasnt draining too well until i put pressure on it. Needless to say, i ended up with a nice little mess on my truck seat

After reading this thread I feel much better about the ganglion cyst on my wrist.

Have it surgically removed before it becomes infected. I noticed one in high school while sitting on the gym floor. Had it removed and was no problem 2-3 days later.

Had one removed when I was living in Birmingham in 1996. Had to ride on my stomach in the back of a Bronco II from B'ham to Farmington, MO for a wedding two days later.
My best friend from high school was a med student at the time and he changed my gauze for 3 days. Partied with Quiet Riot at the hotel on Saturday night after the wedding.

First of all, pray it isn't staph.
If it has to be cut out, the sooner the better. When small, the wound will just require packing and won't be as big a deal. Let it grow and you could easily be looking at a wound that might be four or five inches long and an inch or so wide. Those require weeks to heal and might require things like a wound vac.

Had one cut out when I was in college. Older son had surgery two summers ago to have his cut out.
Younger son has one, now, but the sac is on the outside. Thought it was an inflamed skin tag at first. Antibiotics for ten days did the trick. When being examined, the surgeon found another one inside the cavity. But that one was reduced with the course of antibiotics, as well.
After the ten day exam, surgeon put silver nitrate on the sac on the outside to dry it up.
