Pros: rich in history/ a cultural melting pot, some of the best food on planet earth, a thriving port (one of the biggest in the world) and maritime industry, partying/tourism/attractions, population is still small compared to other cities, music/ musical history, natives are more down to earth than the fricking yankess. - that's all I can think of right now.

Cons: Crime ridden/ AIDS infested hell hole, arguably the worst roads in america, corruption, failing public educational system, overpriced cost of living, prone to natural disasters.

agree with everything that you wrote except that I don't find NO people to be down to earth...I actually find them to be pretty brash and condescending.

True, there is an element of those types in NOLA. I think that compared to the insurrablue twats in NYC, Boston, Chicago, LA, etc, New Orleans is at least reasonable.

It was actually the French, of course. About 1000 years ago.

I'm aware. However, people from Mobile will swear they "founded Mardi Gras".

I once moved to Mobile and transferred to USA chasing my gf at the time Anna... got a place of Government street. Was nice and all until Mardi Gras. Was the biggest waste of a carnival season I ever had in my life. A complete joke. Houma's MG blows it out of the water.

I actually broke up with the chick over the fact Alabama sucked so bad and I missed Mardi Gras for that garbage.
