I think one semester of basic shop class should be required learning for every school kid.

I still have a clock I made in shop. I agree on one hand, but on the other hand.. If every kid had to take it I think there would be a lot more injuries.

I wasn't in the class, but when I was in school we had a guy cut his thumb on an electric saw. He didn't cut it off or anything, but I remember him having to go to the hospital and get stitches. And there would be some other not so serious injuries just from kids horse playing or doing something and not paying attention.

To hell with the schools. What are things no longer taught by parents.....I admit I have no kids but feel qualified in my assessment based on viewing others.

I feel so sorry for you. Imagine having your heritage ripped out from under you by a bunch of rednecks.

And you thought you were smart.

Maybe kids should not be playing sports, lots of injuries involved in that.

I got paddled by the principal for lying to my 1st grade teacher. This was 1994.

That would never happen today.

Disagree strongly on the absence of trades at the HS level. It’s made a VERY big comeback over the last decade. I would know; it’s my business.

I’ve made a very nice living providing equipment and curriculum to school districts for the skilled trades over the last decade. And it’s showing zero signs of slowing down.
