Well at least you came to the right place. The OT is definitely the right place.

One example would be getting so stuck in my head that I literally didn’t perceive any outside stimuli

For me, it was when I started having trouble telling whether I was awake or dreaming. I had dreams that seemed so real, and felt like I had been living years of a life only to suddenly wake up in a different one in a different place. I remember several times going through my entire morning routine to get ready for work and start driving, hear the song that served as my alarm come on the radio, and then wake up back in my bed and have to do it all over again. I started getting paranoid any time I heard that song, thinking that I was about to wake up and that nothing was real. Definitely was very confusing and nerve-wracking.

Sometimes at 1:00 am, while staring in my dimly lit bathroom mirror, I think I see a demon behind my eyes.

Losing one's mind is the most terrifying thing a person can experience outside of imminent death. There's a threshold of impending doom that you experience that can't be conveyed in words. A point of no return that if you cross into you will lose the ability perceive what is real and what seems real. Kind of like being stuck in a bad dream, where the only escape is a different dream, but you dont know who you are or why you are.

It's truly horrific to see people that can't return. It's sick that it's even a thing.

Define detachment.

If you are at all suicidal, including fleeting thoughts of harming yourself or others, get to an ER to be seen by a psychiatrist. Report the thoughts of harm. Make sure you can define detachment.

You may need meds or it could be a psych symptom of a physical problem...lack of sleep, dehydration, onset of diabetes, etc.

In any case, you need to be seen by a physician, and sooner rather than later. And you also need to see a psychiatrist.

Take care of yourself. BTW: if you’re having harm thoughts call 911, don’t get behind the wheel.
