In Laurel Mississippi the art museum has a Thomas Moran painting from before his famous days.
Who in Laurel had enough money for that?

The USS Yorktown in Charleston Harbor is a 100% must-see for any visit to Charleston.

I was overwhelmed how badass it is, all the old planes and helicopters inside and on-deck, you get to tour all the barracks, officer quarters, command tower, all of it. It's amazing the extent to which they let you just wander through all the guts of the ship unaccompanied. There's no AC so don't go mid-day mid-summer.

I thought the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby outside Hattiesburg was fairly impressive given its remote location and lack of fanfare.

Wild Man Dent Myer's in downtown Kennesaw. "Wildman's Civil War Surplus" is the new name.

Best civil war and reconstruction memorabilia museum in the world.

And everything is for sale....

Norton Art Gallery in Shreveport is a true jewel. I’m surprised so few people know about it. The attached gardens with walking paths and hillside brooks are stunning.
