quote:
“Closer” by Nine Inch Nails
Are you still a teenager?

Loved that edgelord shite in high school.
But the weirdest thing is that when I saw the thread title “life goes on long after the thrill of living is gone” was the first thing that came to mind.
Also: “When I was a child, I caught a fleeting glimpse
Out of the corner of my eye
I turned to look, but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown, the dream is gone
I have become comfortably numb” - Pink Floyd

Never realized “I Don’t Like Mondays” was about a sickening tragedy until I was older.

Don't say a word my virgin child

Hey little girl is your daddy home
Did he go away and leave you all alone
Stewart and Springsteen may have had issues.

Yeah, its an objectively horrible song as an adult.

quote:
I’m 30 now and while that 20 years part hasn’t caught me just yet; having an almost 4 year old and almost 2 year old, I feel it.
As a 60 y/o embrace everything you can. Looking back, the last 30 years are like a blur…. it just amazes me how time goes by so fast, especially when your kids get older and get more independent.

I've rediscovered a lot of music over the past few years that I didnt really care for as a teen or young adult. Crazy how it hits different with age.

quote:
When the jester sang for the king and queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me
Oh, and while the king was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
Didn't realize it was referring to Bob Dylan and then Elvis using drugs

Comfortably Numb
This verse just hits so much harder as you age.
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.
This verse just hits so much harder as you age.
Out of the corner of my eye.
I turned to look but it was gone
I cannot put my finger on it now
The child is grown,
The dream is gone.
I have become comfortably numb.

Benny Mardones- Into the Night
Catchy tune from the 80s. Never really payed attention to the lyrics at the time.
Now I realize that Benny should have been thrown under the jail.

Landslide/Fleetwood Mac. I loved it when it was released- and all the years since then-but now it saddens me.

My child arrived just the other day
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking 'fore I knew it, and as he grew
He'd say "I'm gonna be like you, dad"
"You know I'm gonna be like you"
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
My son turned ten just the other day
He said, thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw, I said-a, not today
I got a lot to do, he said, that's okay
And he, he walked away, but his smile never dimmed
It said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, dad?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
Son, I'm proud of you, can you sit for a while?
He shook his head, and they said with a smile
What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, can I have them please?
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
You know we'll have a good time then
I've long since retired, my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, I'd like to see you if you don't mind
He said, I'd love to, dad, if I can find the time
You see, my new job's a hassle, and the kids have the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad
It's been sure nice talking to you
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
"When you coming home, son?" "I don't know when"
But we'll get together then, dad
We're gonna have a good time then

think I was 15 when it clicked-
Puff, the magic dragon lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee
Little Jackie Paper loved that rascal Puff
And brought him strings, and sealing wax, and other fancy stuff
think I was 29 when it clicked-
Freedom just another word for nothing left to loose.
