home builder.

I know a few of these in this area and I'm sure they are killing it. The main one I know seems to find good deals on lots and then spends $300K or so building a house and sells them for $600K.

With the way the housing market has been in the last 10 years, he's killing it. He planned to live in the last one he built, but only stayed in a year and a half. Sold it for $795K and I'm sure he cleared $300k.

Advertising - media sales. More specifically TV. Amazing industry. Job is easy as hell, just need to know someone to get in to a legit station.

The only way you are generally gonna make more than 150k is medical, or own your own business. There are a few websites that list the average pay for fields. If it says 80k, then someone is lying to you if they claim 200.

The tell me but it's usually vp of something obscure. The typically have college degrees but not necessarily something in their feild.

These jobs don't seem typical, I was looking for a more direct career path.

Also sales reps, insurance agent and financial planner are people that I commonly see. Those jobs seem very hit or miss.

I make about ~150k but thinking about taking a job at another company in Tennessee. My supervisor has been trying to get me a raise but the big boss man won’t budge.

I know appliance guys that make $225k a year single employee.
I just can't with good faith bill over $100 an hour for labor, but that is where our industry is going.

I have heard that sales is a lucrative career path but how do you break into sales? Do you just have to know a guy or is there a certain background that they look for.

You get an interview and sell yourself. If you can't do that you wouldn't be good at the job anyway.

I don’t know of any profession that works 40 hours a week and makes 200k. I know plenty of professionals that make close to that, but they put in a shite load of hours, unless you’re the head hancho at some big company. In which case you usually pay your dues on the front end and have a shite load of responsibility.

Starting your own business is probably the best bet without having to go back to school to become a doctor or lawyer...if you’re even capable in the first place. Bottom line though...you’ll spend just as much time going back through school to get an education as you will becoming good enough at something to start your own business. I spent 12 years in construction managing projects before starting a biz 2 yrs ago with a partner. We’re a subcontractor most of the time but the primary reason we’re successful is we built a ton of relationships and developed reputations in our specific market.

One thing you have to factor into that is the amount of hours, danger of work, and costs.

His take home probably isn’t much more than someone who makes $150k when you factor in insurance and the like.
