I worked at K&B in college. Was my first real job. I quit around the time Rite Aid bought them out. Rite Aid sucked! The K&B branded merchandise was actually pretty legit and the ice cream was awesome. They actually had their own ice cream plant. It wasn't outsourced and rebranded like most store brands.

What was the deal with the Pizza Hut debacle in Baton Rouge? The franchisee refused to pay up to Pizza Hut, and they shut him down? I remember we had a few years of getting Pizza Hut at Taco Bell until the To-Go places opened up.

Yea. Larry Lundy bought up the BR Market from Corporate in late 90s. He was running them so very poorly, they got shuttered until Corporate could get them all restaffed and renovated.

Nola article about it.

That was also the Dennys where Guice's Dad was murdered.

Probably already mentioned -- but I miss the Cajun Blaze from Burger Tyme.

Although it'd probably eat me up with heartburn if I had one today.

Not completely out of business but you hardly ever see them much anymore and this place was a staple on a trip to Florida from Mecca. That and the USS Alabama in Mobile.

Anyone post the Cockpit?

It is Chris' now, but back in the day it was a night club with live bands, etc.

It would pack em in.

In Lafayette:

Pancho's

Buck Nuttys - I've had many injuries from that shithole. I loved skating there, though. Then Lafayette had the new park and you had to wear pads.

Used to watch some movies here:

There was another drive-in between Lafayette and Opelousas but I can't recall the name.

Abdalla's department store

There was Foley's department store when we lived in the Houston area in the late '60s-'70s

Is Weingarten's still around? Can't access the domain for it.

As other people have mentioned:
