What Are Some Off The Wall Myths You Heard People Really Believe?

Someone I know of doesn't allow their kids to eat bananas several hours before bed time because she believes that eating a banana too close to bed time can be unsafe. Something about pieces of it can get stuck in a kid's throat and can choke them when they are sleeping or some shite.
Where do people get this shite from?
I've also heard someone mention that if a woman sees a snake while she is pregnant, its a bad sign of something,..

You can legally avoid paying federal income taxes by simplying refusing to fill out your W-4.
Had a former family member making North of $180K/year brag about how he read this book that detailed the tax avoidance scheme.
You essentially treat the W-4 as a contract. Using legal jargon to state you are being forced to sign the W-4 and do not agree to pay taxes. You are signing against your will because you won't be employed otherwise.
Three years later their house was repossessed and he faced a tax lien of biblical proportions. His wife left him as well.
