the explosion of a black middle class in the AP is a good thing. Some have harped on the football talent. Well there's a TON more families still in the area. A lot of them commuted to plants and such outside of NOLA to begin with. Post Katrina their commute is similar distance, just the other direction.

Downtown is night and day better and actually much safer than it was in 2005.

The revitalization of mid city and the overpass area has spawned many new restaurants like Gauter, City Pork, the Overpass Merchant, and Curbside.

There's more festivals, especially craft beer festivals, than ever before.

There's a big boom in creative music and art venues.

Town Center helped bring a big boost to Mid City.

The libraries have been rebuilt to become one of the best library systems in the country.

They're even talking about building commuter rail and street cars.

While traffic is much worse and crime certainly not any better, Baton Rouge was noticeably on the upswing since Katrina up until the August Floods.

I never felt unsafe in downtown prior to 2005
