Depends on what a person enjoys.

STEM - Engineering

NUMBERS - Accounting and finance

Law school - Poli Sci, History (maybe even double major in both)

Med school - Biology

Make college an investment. Many people go wrong when they go in without a plan. If you don’t know what you want to do then do a couple of semesters at a community college. There is no shame in getting your general classes out of the way at a discount.

NUMBERS - Accounting

There are almost zero numbers in accounting as in math and such.

Law school. The world sorely needs a few more young lawyers.

Any combo of 2 of these majors with 1 minor: Accounting
Information Tech
Statistics

I have one useless bachelor's degree and another bachelor's in Information Systems with a minor in Statistics.

Medicine or nursing, biochemical engineering, other engineering specialties, teaching\education.

Stay away from law. It's oversaturated.

Above all, pursue something you will be happy with and can earn a decent living.

Also, be wary of the girls looking for an Mrs. degree. They may seem like a good frick at the time, but they will cause you misery later.

Petroleum engineering because there’s about to be a big shortage of graduates thanks to the downturn.

And you think AI will reverse all those deaths?

I don't, but I think as it improves, it will continue to outperform humans in every area. Compared to the computing power of AI, we are like insects. Again, it is barely in it's infant stages and it is progressing rapidly. In 20 years, the job market will look nothing like it does today. Many futurists have concluded that human labor will be so unnecessary in so many sectors that a living wage for all will be the only way to stave off mass rioting.

What careers do you think will be obsolete? Financial advisors, attorneys, doctors, etc.?

Here's a pretty good NYT article about it.

What is hard to get my head around is that as AI is integrated this stuff will progress at an exponential rate because it can do in a fraction of a second what takes a human brain years.

If I could do it over again I would’ve done architecture with a minor in construction management or something like that.

Hard major but I would’ve loved it as a career. Really sad I can’t go back and do that part over.

Most of these careers are out of reach for a normal IQ person. Engineering, Accounting, Physicians, Pharmacy are all high IQ people, or at least high IQ in one area. Accounting may be the exception, but a person would be crazy to go into it without an exceptional like for math.

The best answer is IT for the normal person. For the medically inclined with an above average IQ the answer would be RN nursing. For the average person that don't want to go to college.... any trade...plumbing, electrical, welding, which will all make serious money.
