This year. I'll be 30. I lost a lot of weight over the past 18 months, but the toll the extra weight took on my body has done its damage. I don't think it's anything serious, but I can't do what I used to do physically. That comes with getting older, but I think I'm about a decade ahead just from being overweight from age 22 to about 28.

I was trail running and fell (which is not uncommon) and cut up my knees and hand pretty bad and the recovery was almost 2 months.

37. I knew it was mostly downhill at that point.

Late 30s-early 40s when I first got sciatica, or at least I thought it was. Prior to that I had zero history of any back pain. It was painful, to say the least.

I wonder why all you "young kids" are having problems at such a young age?

I will be 75 next month. I have been active all my life. I ran track in high school and some in college. I was 5'-7" tall and 132 lbs when I graduated from high school. I weighed 148 lbs 5 years later after college. Growing up, I was always outside playing all day long. I did the same while in college.

I got back into fishing and hunting a few years after getting out of college. I have always enjoyed working around the house to keep busy. I am still very active, but maybe not as much as 10 years ago.

I guess I first started realizing some loss of "energy" when I was about 55. I now figure about that time, was the start of a slow down hill. Health wise, my physical exam test result all remain in the normal range. Weigh wise.... well this could be lower. I have weighed mostly between 160 -170 lbs for the last 20 years.

Now as for my body slowing down..... This year, I have really started to need a couple of days "recovery" time after making a 2 day deer hunt. I still carry my climbing stand and climb 30+ feet, but I usually limit my walking to 1/4 mile. I hauled a 150 lb. deer over 1/2 mile last year to get it back to my truck.

I am planning to hunt a couple more days next week to see if I can kill something with my bow. Then there is Turkey season this spring.

Life has been good.... just hope I can keep active for a few more years. My mom made it to 92 and my dad was 98 when he died a few years ago.

You can remain active well into your later years in life. My grandfather still cut his own grass in his early 90s. But peak physical condition for people is generally late 20s or early 30s.

quote:

Although men have more muscle mass than women, both sexes reach their physical peak as young adults or anywhere from their late 20's to early 30's, according to “Human Development: A Life-Span View” by Robert Kail and John Cavanaugh. After this point, your physical strength will decline slowly throughout the remaining years of your life. Sensory abilities peak in your early 20's. Depending on the individual, vision typically begins to deteriorate in middle age. However, hearing starts to decline in your late 20's. The ability to taste, smell, balance and feel pain or changes in temperature, remains the same until your later years.

I cant speak for everyone in this thread, but when I say that Im starting to feel old, im saying that I'm no longer able to play basketball for hours on end or I need more recovery times after long runs.

I cant imagine having to walk anywhere with weight wearing me out for another few decades.

I did a decade in the military with multiple combat deployments. I don’t know how I ever made it through looking back now lol.

Probably why I have my problems, old man River

Late 30’s. Strained my Achilles badly in a Charity Basketball game. Haven’t played since. Softball and Pickleball are my games now.
