And Trump was in the middle of a meeting with the President of China who flew into West Palm today, when he ordered the missile strikes. Like a boss.

I don't know how I feel about this.
I know the situation with al-Assad and why there is civil war in Syria. Syria is now a cluster frick and as long as Al-Assad is the leader there will never be peace within the country, but he seems to be trying to beat the rebels into submission.
With Russia backing al-Assad and the US attacking al-Assad, how will this play out? In 2013 Trump tweeted to Obama that the US doesn't need to go into Syria. Here we are in 2017.. al-Assad uses chemical weapons on rebel controlled areas, which came with a lot of collateral damage, not even a week ago and now we are going after al-Assad.
Is it Trump doing what he does best? Is he doing this all for show? Was his decision solely based on how he thinks this will help his imagine? I guess only time will tell, but right now it seems like a knee jerk reaction.

It worked in Germany and Japan because we were dealing with an educated, motivated and nationalistic people....this is not true of places like Vietnam,Afghanistan, virtually all of the middle east and most of Africa...these places are not "evolved" enough to successfully "self-govern" and should be left to their own "devices", until they do "evolve". They are usually better off with some kind of "benevolent" dictator.

I'm not disagreeing with you but would just say to look at it from a different perspective. The folks there have everything to lose. Their lives and the lives of their loved ones. If you saw someone in dire need of your help and you're able to help do you walk by and disregard them or step up to do what you can?

so you posted to tell us you don't know anything new and you have no opinion on the matter at this time ?

Doesn't stop with the Russians. Iran has their troops there backing Assad as well. Let's see how many of them died tonight, then you'll be able to follow a completely different WH narrative. Keep your eye on reactions.

AND, there's a DEFINED end game
This is my only problem with all that has been done in the last 15 years or so that has cost us so much money and so many lives.
Either go in and kick arse or stay the hell out. The middle east will not work as a nation building experiment.

"Deconfliction" is my new favorite word.

Apparently, there were Russians on that base we attacked. If true, things could get worse than a proxy war. Russia, like us, don't play that shite when it comes to protecting their citizens abroad

That doesn't even touch the whole Congressional approval part
He doesn't need it - something that he undoubtedly became aware of as president and since the 3 1/2 years that he made that tweet as a private citizen. Circumstances & events change drastically around the world on a daily, if not hourly, basis. To have a president who is inflexible to those changes and who does not respond accordingly, regardless of his previous thoughts in re his stance on the issues, is not a good thing. Obviously, allowing Assad to continue his barbaric actions, unchallenged, as he has done for the better part of the previous inept & impotent administration, was not working. Hopefully, firm, decisive action will.

Remember that time Reagan bombed Libya and Gaddafi shut the hell up for 15 years?

Whoa.
Did Syria attack us or something. Those bastards!
I blame Canada. .
