Preacher said, the older he gets the more he thinks about where he will spend eternity. I said to myself, damn that sounds cryptic.
Theme song of how I feel
Why do preachers have to be Debbie downers. I'm trying to live not think about damn death all the time.

Why would you go hang out with people who think having sex, especially without a rubber, with multiple people will get you sent to an afterlife of hell and brimstone?

The same reason Forest Gump did, so he can go to heaven Lieutenant Dan.

I'm gonna wait here for the gif showing Jesus presiding over the entire universe just to make sure we don't masturbate.

Nuns used to tell me if I didn't stop punching the clown I'd go blind.
I told them I'd stop when I needed glasses.
OP should go to Healing Place.

That's messed up.
No wonder church attendance is declining.

Everything we do is ultimately meaningless, but there's a special kind of absurdity attached to spending one's entire life teaching others about an eternity that will never come.

What'd he tell y'all after the collection?

Maybe the way that your preacher was relaying the message was a bit off, but the Christian message should be that the ultimate goal is to spend eternity in Heaven. Death should not be scary, but celebrated.
My grandfather passed away a few months ago and my uncle gave a eulogy and said " when I got the call that Joe had passed, I just said thank you Jesus". He had been ill for quite some time and was in pain. At first, that didn't sit well with me but then another family member said, "I prayed for Joe last night, and then I heard that he passed today."
Death is a part of life that we don't like to think about because it hurts those of us that are still here, but if you have accepted Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior, then you have nothing to fear from death.

This is one of religions biggest problems in my opinion.People are going to have vastly different ways of seeing the world and ways of coping with death, sickness etc. But anytime there is any discussion like this and religion is involved, you see the "he/she isn't practicing true Christianity," or "their views don't reflect what the Bible really says/what God wants." The problem is who is to say? One person says their view of a certain religion is the correct one and the next says with just as much conviction that theirs is the correct one.
With a more secular view, people will have different philosophies and ways of seeing/coping with the world just as religious people have these differences. The difference is that in the secular view, it is perfectly fine for people to have these different views and there is no reason to criticize the next person for not having the exact same answer to all of life's most difficult and sometimes, unanswerable philosophical and metaphysical questions.

Only trashy denominations have church on Wednesday.
