Outside of NOVA, Virginia becomes country Louisiana with a quickness.

Best wishes. Virginia is beautiful and has a lot to offer but...be prepared to pay much higher taxes and a much higher cost of living. If you have never lived there, you will be shocked after living in Louisiana.
Good luck

Congrats to you and your wife. Hope the move is all you could imagine and you have tremendous success.

Have fun shoveling snow. I'll be sweating balls down here in December.

Salem?

Grew up there. I was just there visiting family last month. I miss the weather (I'm in Texas now). If it is Salem, you'll love it. If it's Vinton, I'm sorry.

Kudos to you

Best decision I have made in my 31 years on this planet was to leave the cesspool that is Louisiana. I hope your journey to a new, better place is everything you hope for

I have lived in VA for 2 years after leaving LA. Me and my family love it here. Craft beer heaven and deer hunting at its finest. I miss my Cajun home but I will never go back. Congrats on the move and best of luck to you.

New Orleans is the shithole of the Earth. Yeah, a few festivals and good times, furniture than that it is seriously the worst city in America.

Good job dude. You'll never regret it. And you can still go back a couple times per year and get puke, piss, etc on your shoes.

It doesn't matter where you are going. Wherever it us, they look down on crime. N O embraces and helps criminals.

Most Louisiana people don't realize how less shitty life in other states is.

It'll be a good thing for you.

Nice article in USA Today about Fairfax County Va.

Says no one speaks English. 44 countries represented in the school district. The school district must build 4 new elementary schools in 5 years.

The people bashing Virginia in here are hilarious. Virginia is probably a top 3 state to live in east of the Mississippi.

Congrats on the move. That is an excellent part of the country.

Sunny Salem! I went to Roanoke College. Absolutely loved the area. The wife and I are planning on retiring in that area. Absolutely beautiful.

Salem is a nice little town too. Highly recommend living around there. The city of Roanoke is pretty awesome as well. There is some crime in the shitty parts but I have never been scared or worried for my life at any point and would never be compared to New Orleans.

Hit up Mac n Bobs and get a Boston zone. Amazing. Also Macados is a great place for beers. Downtown has some nice gems as well. Enjoy Mill Mountain Coffee. Loved that place.
