That won't be a good look politically when people the government forced out of work aren't getting any money....
It’s substantially more complicated than that. I like to think that you know that.

Andrew Yang was trying to do it - the establishment media refused to give him any coverage or treat him as a real candidate. Or his ideas were too new and revolutionary to gain traction. He seems to have had a lasting impact on the conversation though.

I don’t care about your white knighting for poorly run corporations who need handouts to survive.
You're a fricking moron. Even companies who have saved for a rainy day can't operate with almost the same amount of outlay/overhead and no income. With production severely or completely turned off, companies, no matter how well run or going to feel the pain.

Do you at least admit that it was dems who blocked it from passing?
No, because it was just a cloture vote so the bill is still alive. I do applaud them for forcing both sides to get back to the negotiating table and hammer out the problems with it.

This is THE MOST INAPPROPRIATE TIME to stall a bill because of ideological concerns.
Didn't seem to stop McConnell from shutting down the Senate last weekend, so spare me the immediate urgency argument today. Both sides are playing political football here, and both will hold final responsibility for whatever comes of this bill.
And honestly, there should be 6 people spearheading this deal - McConnell, Schumer, Pelosi, McCarthy, Mnuchin, and whoever is the current legislative point person in the WH. It was a failure it wasn't set up that way from the start.

This almost sounds like your saying pass it and we will figure out whats in it later. It's a 3 trillion dollar bill.
No thanks, the idiots on capital hill should take an extra day or two to outline where all the money is going and the rules behind it, before they shove it down our throats.

Do you agree it is fricky not to release the names of the companies receiving bailouts (and amounts) until after the election?
1) please stop calling it a bailout. If I total your car and give you the money to repair it, am I bailing you out?
2) Yes, it is fricky.
BUT IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE FINAL BILL. It would have been eliminated when house and senate drafters worked together to draft a bill that would have passed both houses.

i don't think you understand what a bailout is.

Beyond the legality, you really want a president to have authority to authorize 2 trillion dollars without Congress?
It is truly scary what some people will agree to as long as their "side" wins with complete disregard for the precedent it sets.

CNN is now reporting that the house version also allows Mnucnin to administer the program. The wording is the exact same.
what a fricking shitshow

The only part of that quote that I am not sure is in the "new" bill is the abortion funding.
So far, in Pelosi's "new" bill, I've seen:
1. Grants for conducting risk-limiting audits of results of elections
2. Elimination of USPS debt; additional borrowing authority
3. Pay Equity - a comparison amongst racial and ethnic minorities as compared to their white counterparts, and comparison of pay between men and women for similar roles and assingments
4. Corporate board diversity measures
5. Requirement for early voting on election day, provisioned in the same manner as it is on election day
Still looking around for other absurd provisions of the bill, which was clearly made up of previously drafted legislation and not at all built with the current health and economic situation in mind.

You really think it is a bailout to a diner owner? The government just caused his business to decline 70-80%!

agreed.
If I totaled your car by driving it into a nuclear power plant and causing a nuclear reactor to explode, then i paid everyone effected cents on the dollar, including you, for the damage i caused. am i bailing you out?

excellent summary, but i've also seen a screenshot of section (325) that mentioned same day voter registration. a long long time wishlist item for the Dims.

Then why include it anyway?

Bitch, if you are making 200k a year and come to me asking for 3k because you had a hard month selling widgets and can't keep the lights on, it's a bailout. Don't get caught up on the terminology to start a new argument, Im bailing your arse out a tightspot.

It's jaw dropping for me that anyone who claims to be a conservative would be ok with an attempted executive order authorizing 2 billion dollars in spending.

Guarantee you can call it whatever you like to the people who actually need the money.

If I get in a car accident and I’m paying for damage to your vehicle, it’s because I’m at fault. If I ran into you because someone else ran me off the road, that is not my fault. I was reacting to other factors outside of my control and I ended up hitting you.
If you believe that governments across the US nefariously decided to cripple their own local economies, I guess your analogy would be correct. I would disagree.
