many on the drugs refuse lifestyle changes

I would guess the vast majority. Lifestyle changes would have prevented them from getting so overweight to begin with and most lack the self discipline to change.

I would be curious to see what percentage actually take up resistance training and stick with it as they begin taking the meds.

very few, its why they get to the highest dose so fast....but again better than just being a fatass

like another poster said...most of this board is fat and takes medicine for all kinds of shite...but draws the line at drugs for many on here actually need...you know drugs that keep you from being a fat arse

you know cause the OTers like to do it the natural way

More than you’d think. I’m on a couple GLP groups and there’s a lot of ppl on there who have completely transformed and are busting arse at the gym. Of course there’s always a big percentage of dumbasses who will still eat like shite and gain every pound back afterwards.

Since starting, it’s helped me develop new beneficial habits. I’ve been at the gym 3-4x a week, IF from 11-6, and get off Bp meds.

Meh, beats being chubby. Risk vs reward and all. Don't be a scared sheep.

i have no idea why this doesn't have as many upvotes as the amount of times it's been seen.

lot of friends got on this and swore there were no side effects.

every single medicine is going to have side effects, no matter what you do or how minimal it is.

Yeah… problem is that it’s mostly women there. I’m in a men’s GLP group and it’s way different.

Sure.

That said, in the same complex as my office there is a "Wellness Clinic" that has opened up that specifically prescribes these weight loss drugs and does vitamin IVs and that kind of stuff. I'm going to guess the prescribers there are probably more concerned about financial overhead. I could absolutely see one of those clinics prescribing Oxempic or Wegovy without good guidance to reduce side effects.

When you lose weight you feel like doing more. I'm a reformed fatty and lost the weight first (120 lbs through diet change). I didn't really start getting active until I'd mostly lost it all. But after I quit carrying around an entire extra persons weight my energy levels shot up. If even 10% of the people using meds do the same, that's a massive shift in public health.

Makes sense. I’m no GI doc baw but if you don’t shite you don’t feel much like eating.

Taking these drugs is a shock to the system. You don't feel hungry so you don't eat, you instantly cut out the sugar/carbs/fats/salt/sodas that fueled your body.

shite going in the body = shite going out the body. Severely restrict the quantity of shite food going in and the gut goes into lockdown mode.

Right, but if the side effects of taking Ozempic/Weogovy are less than years of taking cholesterol meds + high blood pressure + acid reflux meds due to being overweight, then why not shed the pounds and hope to cut back on the other meds?

I’m type 2. Am on the next to lowest dose of MJ…started at the lowest. I changed how I was eating before I ever got the first prescription filled. What I’ll say is that my appetite is actually still fairly strong. Get full a little faster. Zero side effects other than when I had a little too much red wine, the heartburn almost killed me. The med pretty much forces you to eat better or you will pay. Biggest misconception about it is that you can still eat like shite while taking it. Reduced my A1C by 4 points in 3 months.

Crazy to think big pharma and doctors actually have a negative impact instead of a positive. Sarcasm

Somehow I don’t see the average People of WalMart being the ones spending many hundreds of dollars per month on these drugs. Or does Medicaid and/or EBIT cover the costs?
