It is occupied, they are friends of ours. All safe at the moment, doesn't look like it's over.

Eta: neighbors are reporting windows blown out and everything. Old cahaba neighborhood, tons of homes there.

No it isn't

Like you I had figured it would have stabilized over night. I turned on the TV thinking nothing would be on about the weather.

Then I was like damn Shelby and St Clair are getting jacked up.

I don't think the thunder has stopped in Fultondale for hours. I hope those OTM are safe.

Looks like it wants to fire back up around the MS line.

If the Bibb county warning is extended it is headed towards Helena/Pelham/Alabaster area

Edit looks to have just switched to Severe Storm warning

Yeah not a good feeling finding out that the action was SO close by and I would have been caught like a sitting duck myself...mind you only by a few minutes, but that's still a few minutes too late...even then it was just me being the weather nerd type that I checked at 2am and saw how close it was to me.

This seems odd compared to so many other events honestly. Normally if these systems don't have their act together by a certain time, it isn't happening. .wrong in this case for sure

I use a radio as background noise and luckily woke up to the Emergency warning from the original Helena warning as I am only a handful of miles north.

Yeah I have a weather alert for my phone and they didn't sound mine but I was just out of the polygon initiation, probably just to the north, as well. I never had anything go off. The weather radio probably did better sounding alarms in this case for a wider area.

Emergency alert on our phones woke us up, I hate and love that feature.

Last night when that blue alert went off I thought this weather had gotten here early.

They need different tones for different alerts.

The tones for those amber/storm/blue alerts are very eery but they work as intended. It’s real hard to sleep through those

It was rough just north of Picayune on I-59 this morning. Some white knuckle driving for sure.

Definitely worse than expected. Flooding was CRAZY for BHam. Schools delayed 2-3 hours all across the area. Multiple trees down all over the area.

And it’s still raining at 10:45am.

I know it means something else but that phrase always makes me think of masturbating while driving and getting sperm on your knuckles because of the difficulty of multitasking.
