Are people wearing gloves inadvertently spreading the virus?

Yesterday while at Fed Ex sending a package, the clerk behind the counter was wearing rubber gloves. Watching him it occurred to me that he could be spreading the virus because he is wearing rubber gloves. I asked him how long he had the same pair of gloves on. He said a couple of hours since he started his shift. I told him that if his gloves become infected he is spreading the virus to every customers packages, credit cards, and cash. I told him it would be better for him to ditch the gloves and wash his hands every 15 or 20 minutes or use some hand sanitizer or change gloves after every transaction. He got offended and told me that he is following Fed Ex policy in wearing the rubber gloves.

What says the OT? Am I wrong?

Wearing the gloves is fine. You just have to sanitize them as frequently as you would your bare hands.

About washing hands, nope.

Believing your average customer service employees can understand sterile technique, definitely.

Gloves protect the wearer, not everybody else.

I think the rubber gloves’ best benefit is they serve as a reminder to not touch your face. People just need to be washing their hands after they receive packages/open mail.

No. Unfortunately, there's plenty of ignorant people right now who do this and it's not helping anything. It's fine if they sanitized the gloves regularly which less people do. Gloves actually create more harm than good in my experience and I only say that due to ignorance of people who use them as the example you gave. People are less willing to sanitize their hands with gloves on. It blows my mind how Americans today have such a selfish mentality. All those stories and stuff growing up or hitting American history books with the unity we use to have to get through tragedy...where the frick did all that go? All I see is a polarized and divided country during a pandemic full of selfish people.

You are completely correct. I laugh watching people wearing gloves go digging in their purse or pocket and touching their car all day with the same gloves that are just dragging the germs all over everything. And then when they get home they dig in that same purse with bare hands and think they are ok.

wrong. not sure if you're being serious. Unless the wearer disposes of gloves after touching anything or sanitizes them, they are meaningless.

It’s probably safer if they did without gloves and just washed their hands regularly vs just wearing the same gloves all day.

I have no faith in humanity after seeing Americans react to this pandemic. Seriously, give me the red button so I can reset everything.

I'm jking obviously but it's disheartening to see how selfish Americans are. It blows my mind at some things I've seen and heard. I've heard a lot of horror stories from my gf who's a nurse.

One thing is for sure though, if for some reason America collapses in the future it will be squarely on American shoulders not some virus. We all need to take a hard look in the mirror and observe what's going on. People just aren't willing to sacrifice for their own selfish appetite/desires.

I have started a TulaneLSU-esque post on proper glove wearing protocols two or three times this week and stopped because the people who don’t understand likely aren’t willing to try to learn.

There are people who understand that the Virus doesn’t magic it’s way through the bare skin (of your hands). Then there are those other idiots.

So I just laugh to myself when I see someone wearing gloves do something like pump gas and then get in their cars and drive off wearing the same gloves. Congrats, you just contaminated your steering wheel dumb frick.

My favorite was when I was in Costco the first week of this deal and a guy wearing gloves came in the bathroom and pissed while wearing the gloves. Schmuck. Then he went to the sink after pissing and washed the gloves in the sink before going back to his cart.

There's absolutely no way to be completely safe if we're out in the public. We just have to be as safe as possible. I think that is all we can ask for. Bringing children to the grocery store, pretty idiotic imo. They touch and pick up stuff and momma tells them "to put it back" all the time.

I was thinking about this as well after I saw someone wearing them at the pharmacy. Since the virus is not absorbed through the skin, I cant see any reason they would be of any benefit to the wearer.

Maybe because you're less likely to rub / stick a finger in your mouth or rub your eyes, dumb arse.

If you don't possess the self awareness to not touch your face, whether wearing gloves or not, you are the dumb arse.
