What day of the week was it? Are you sure they wore them to look nice to the bar, or more likely had just attended some sort of college job fair, hiring event, other event requiring a suit, wedding, funeral, etc.?

I've worn a suit out to crappy bars a bunch of times, every time was not because I chose to wore a suit to the bar but because I needed to wear a suit to the event I attended before going to the bar.

a cheep suit but properly tailored vs a quality suit and no tailoring is a no brainer
