That's incorrect according to them. I believe my mom was able to enter her 2 year PT school program at LSUHSC after 2 years at UNO. Very different from having to get a bachelors degree followed by a doctorate.
Also, the only thing a PTA is unable to do that a PT is is assess. Other than that a PTA can do everything else.
My parents love what they do, but have advised a friend of mine considering the field NOT to pursue being a PT and strongly encouraged him to go the PTA route. The career looks very similar and the return on investment is insanely better

So no loans or schollies for trades?
Plenty of community colleges and public vo-tech colleges that teach trades.

I have no idea about this specific school, but what's so bad about a school being for profit in general?
Nothing.
However, there are exactly zero for-profit schools that aren't diploma mills.
Certainly, a for profit school could form and actually be legit. And they would probably do well.

Yes, but the vast majority of trade degrees do not come from those places. Full disclosure, my family owns trade schools with over 2k students at a time. However, most have jobs lined up well before completion of a program. Job employment rate has never dipped below 95% in a year. Public loans and grants allow these students to get the degree, they would be SOL otherwise.

Would you mind sharing the school name? Because, that's NOT the experience most people have with for-profit schools... so maybe people should look at attending the ones your family owns.

You're right. There is an extra year of school. but doing the clinical rotations which before had to be done outside of the actual 2 year. Either way, I'll stand by the PTA's have a ceiling.
Not at my wife's place. A PTA cannot perform anything without direct supervision of a PT. A PTA is not going to be any director at a hospital. A PTA is not opening their own clinic.
I get what you're saying though and it could be close but a PTA is still limited. Now if you're just a person who wants to go just to work and do your job and go home, maybe the PTA route is for you.

I see what you are saying for sure. Which is why its crazy to me that the field has gotten to the point where my parents think PTA is still the better route. Keep in mind my dad owns his own clinic.

The more I think about it, it's probably that way for certain people.
What's funny to me is how mad my wife got when they started awarding them a doctorate. She can't understand that all her experience trumps that doctorate label.

Its in Ohio so no one from this board is going there

The people that attend for general studies and crap degrees. My family's schools(4 of them) are strictly for trades or similar. I'd also say about 90% of the students get some sort of funding from the government and a large percentage are on Pell as well

No one in my family told me it was a bad idea to go to ITT Tech. My dad was strung out on meth. My mom was glad I was doing something besides dope with my dad.
I spent a year or so at a community college before ITT Tech. Not being a school kind of guy all the basic courses were meh to me.
ITT Tech didn't have all the basics. 2 math and 2 English classes. Both were gravy. It was mainly computer/OS/networking equipment classes.
The cost did get me to buckle down. I thought about it. Didn't realize exactly how long and how much it would really cost though.
They pitched a good sales pitch to me and i bought it hook line and sinker at 23.

A lot of the for-profit schools are teaching a useful trade, in addition to having to meet job-placement requirements for their graduates.
Slap that requirement on LSU and Southern and standby for the outcry.

Yea I could see that being frustrating as hell!

I hope the medical school at UL does not meet the same fate. That project has me nervous as a taxpayer.

If someone wants to get a degree in lesbian pop culture, then let them go. It’s their life and decision, not yours.
I would agree with that if the student was paying for the degree or getting a loan from a private company.
But, since student loans are now federal, I as an investor find it a terrible investment.

I could be mistaken but PT's now are awarded a doctorate for the same amount of time your parents put in at school. They aren't going to any extra classes
Everyone is a doctor now. Even pharmacists which are like the opposite of a doctor because they deny medicine to people. My cousin that has fibromyalgia has gotten plenty of doctors to write him prescriptions for the medicine he needs but the pharmacists in town tell him he can’t have it
