Thanks to Trump, I feel we might see similar results to what we did in Roe v Wade.

It’s possible, but it would surprise me. Even liberal constitutional scholars believed Roe was decided on very shaky ground. That’s why there were occasional discussions to enshrine it in federal law. There was just never the political will to do it.

Every bit of legislative debate in favor of this bill revolved around religion, putting god back in schools, pushing Christian values, etc, etc. SCOTUS upholding this would be a seismic shift in the court in the way Roe really wasn’t.

it’s crazy to say the 10 commandments are the basis of western law.

They aren't.

Sorry, I think I misread your post.

Does the longer version of that decision talk about the applicability of "Congress" in 1a to states? I've never thought to look into that aspect.

Can you show a picture of the Moses statue with the text of the 10 commandments? Can you also show the larger context of how the depiction of Moses is presented?

I find it telling that Moses is not on the East Wall above the bench. It is Majesty of Law and Power of Government staring down at you when you stand there sweaty-palmed and dry-mouthed hoping curious justices can just sit and listen and not ruin your flow.

I would need to look later. With that said, the First Amendment was long ago ruled as incorporated in its entirety by the Fourteenth Amendment.

Country was founded by people trying to escape religious oppression you dipshit. Christian nationalists trying to establish the same oppression over everyone here.

I just spent 2 weeks in India and I can tell you whoever is pushing this has not spent any meaningful time in India.

Nah.

We should promote being a Christian nation and ignore the rest.

I'm still waiting on LSUTigerBand85 to reply to this

There is a statue of Moses in the Capitol and the Ten Commandments are posted in the Supreme Court. Since he (Moses) did not immigrate to our country, those must be signs that someone thought our legal code was based on the Biblical text (no matter how loudly the communists scream that it wasn’t).

Yep, he’s in the same frieze as Mohammad and Confucius.

Oh, didn’t know that part, did you?
