And on March 16, 1985 or sometime right around then, he was at Woodlawn’s baseball field watching your brother and our JV team during our freshman year. I’m sure you were at a few of our games, but I didn’t notice...I was too busy checking out the young ladies in the stands.

Only thing I would have changed about what your dad did was use a .357 or a .44 Mag.

Would you have any interest in doing an interview for a podcast? I don't even know if the guys who do it would be interested, but every time I listen to one of their episodes, I think of your story and how it is what they look for in a subject. It is called True Crime Kent. They've done an episode on Jason Vukovich, and felt so strongly about his case that they are still raising money for him and trying to help him.
Anyway, just a thought. They seem like good folks. One is a big time 2A type guy out of Iowa, I think and the other is a redneck Marine from Kentucky.

Was it someone from BRZ that tipped him off?

Yes, Bob Shadel, he was the program director.
Was your father really on the phone, or just pretending to make a call? Did the person on the other end know what was about to go down?

Mike Barnett will tell me the whole backstory one day
Pretty sure I addressed the "backstory" in my book but Mike probably knows more about this whole situation than me...I can almost guarantee he does.
He will tell you the truth...thats why my book is dedicated "To my mother and Mike Barnett "

Bob Shadel was fired. My Dad tried to protect him by saying he "overheard" a conversation but he told him.

Yes and Yes. My Dad's friend was trying to get in touch with Mike Barnett and he called the Sheriff's office. When the Deputy called him back to inform him he was not able to get in touch with Mike...my dad's friend said, "its too late. I heard the shot."

Can you let us know what the best place to buy your book is? Obviously I can get it on Amazon and the likes, but I'd like to get as much of the money directly to you as possible.

That was nothing more than a govt employees reaction to having to work late.

I’m just here to pay respect to your dad for this. I had no idea the backstory or that this was BR until recently. It even came up either on The Bonfire or Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast a few weeks back.
Sorry for what you went through. Your dad was a goddamn hero.

I think that was detective Bud Connor escorting Jeff. I have heard some people say that he knew about this plot to kill Jeff but I think that's total bs.

Watched it. Spain said what he said off the cuff (seemed like it). Respect.

Jody,
I do not know you and we have never met.....but I do want you to know how much admire your strength and ability to process, speak of, and share this aspect of your life. It says much about you.

I remember it well...was at LSU at the time.
That murder and the murder of Barry Seal will never be forgotten. They played both, over and over on the news.
