Heard from two people in two different parts of the city telling me the city will shut off water service for a while- anyone else heard this?

Sounds like it would be a larger problem. Taking pressure off the system is the exact opposite of what logic would state.
Removing pressure is why NOLA has boil advisories.

My aunt and uncle don't have water now. They live in Rose Hill off Tigerbend

Head of Baton Rouge Water on news a little while ago and said absolutely not true. In surrounding cities he wasn't sure since they are not on their system .

Worker for the Baton Rouge water company came on WAFB and said that was a rumor. Told the news outlets to get the word out

No water running through pipes means water coming in. Positive pressure is your friend.

I heard they're only shutting off the water supply to toilets, so you may want to get your business done. Unless you're a sink guy, then you're ok.

frick. Are you serious? What is to prevent us as citizens from filling the tanks on the toilet bowl manually? What if poo in the shower historically?

I guess you could go #1 in the tank?
I'd never shite in the shower unless I was really running late for work.
