So last night while the wife and I were sleeping one of our water lines busted in the attic. Woke up to a disaster. After speaking with my insurance guy he advised me that my house was plumbed with Nibco piping and that they have a class action lawsuit going on right now.

Just a friendly reminder if you've lived in a home dating back to 2005 and have nibco pipes you could possibly get reimbursed for having to fix damages caused by their pipes busting. When the plumber fixes the pipe have him give you the nibco pipe that failed. Happy saturday everyone.

Was it the pipe that failed or a connection?

I looked into the Nibco lawsuit a bit just now, and learned a new word. Dezincified.
It seems that part of the problem is poor quality yellow brass fittings that dezincify over time.
I guess it works in this instance. Never thought about what the process of losing zinc coating is called.

plastic connection

there was a hairline crack on one of the connections leading off of the hot water line and because of that the water was spraying over my drip pan and onto the floor of my attic

It’s not that hard.

That sucks. I’m not sure you can blame the pipe company with that though, could have been a bad install. Plumbing leaks are terrible, can be worse then a fire and more common then people think.

Bust is boobies, “burst” is what pipes can do.
