The whole time we were watching the series, I kept telling my wife that I bet a high profile politician is probably behind most of it......and sure enough, Charles Boustany was fricking these girls at the Boudreaux Inn, which also happened to be owned by one of his cronies. Like it was straight out of a movie.

it seems like every person interviewed for this series so far is loaded out of their minds on any kind of drug they can get their hands on.

Back when this was all happening, this was mentioned on message boards. I believe the P.I. also brought it up. Many of the local posters were scared and would only say that "A powerful politician" was with some of these girls at The Boudreaux Inn.
Whether true or not, it was considered common knowledge in the community.

Correct. This is exactly why I added that. Rumors are rumors until proven to be fact. With many of the eyewitnesses assuming room temperature, any others who knew anything got silent quickly.
This is assuming that there was anything to know.

Granted, I’m only about halfway through the second episode of this series, but is there any hard evidence of this?

You might need to watch it. He’s pretty much quoting verbatim.

This show makes Louisiana look so fricking bad.

Teenagers are gonna smoke crack, there's just nothing that's going to stop them. I'd rather they smoke it at home where I know they're safe.

I felt the same way you did after that scene. How was that the only pic you had of her?!

Well you can tell the people that haven't actually watched it.

Murder in the Bayou should become a minor head-scratching sensation, as one subject after another offers matter-of-fact stories about families smoking crack together, inappropriate sexual relationships blending statutory rape and incest — everybody in Jennings appears to be related in some way or another — and the most blatant of nefarious and illegal behavior conducted with little cover. Some of their recollections are heartbreaking, some are mind-boggling and most produce a "Wait, why is somebody telling this to a guy holding a camera?" sensation of overexposure and unease.
So the description of the show by a Hollywood Reporter critic highlights exactly what the OP is saying but he's being over the top? Got it.

I’m not being over the top. Those sentences were almost verbatim with what those people said on the show that were getting interviewed about themselves and their daughter/father.
I’m not making anything up, I’m just going off what they said on the show. Take it up with them if you think they’re being sensationalist about their own drug use.
