I’m sick of white people pretending to be ghetto- even if they live in one. Enough of the cultural appropriation. Be white trash, if that’s what you are. But don’t try to be Tupac, when you look like the coonasses version of White Boy Rick or Vanilla Ice.

North side of the tracks: No
South side of the tracks: Yes

South side is a totally different place. North side has a couple streets that aren't kept up that well, but everything else is perfectly normal.

Oakdale is actually shittier.

I know. Folks see the area now and it's decaying (I refuse to use the "T" word). I remember the area when it was approaching the end of its glory days. Decent place to live.....actually a fun place. Lots of fun. Unfortunately same old story.....major employer shuts down the store and moves out....the place dries up.

Great Memories. Fun times! Sad.

No. Sorry. The poor white druggie trash in my hometown were trashy coonasses who spoke and acted like trashy coonasses. Or white trash from wherever. Why people who aren’t hood rats want to emulate hood rats is truly perplexing.

The poorest trashiest people I ever knew were genuine. They weren’t acting like hood rats unless they were.

Napalm everything on the “other side of the tracks”.

Either way, what does any of this have to do with dirty arse cops?

Curious why the FBI didn't step in and help or even take over the investigation. Not sure how that works, maybe the locals have to "request" their help...

they were apparently involved

quote:

But the task force, which is primarily run by the Jefferson Davis Sheriff’s Office and Jennings Police Department, with support from the Louisiana State Police and the FBI

another article

quote:

The task force includes 14 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies working to bring those responsible to justice.

I'm fairly certain the only state LEA is the LA State Police.
I don't think there's a federal law enforcement agency other than the FBI that would be involved. But at least one article suggests FBI explicitly with another pointing to a "federal LEA" which means either the FBI or the FBI and another federal body were involved.

Perhaps it's naivite, but I would think that keeping the FBI, LSP, and whatever local agencies are involved all on the same page if this were "corruption" and an officer doing the killings would be nearly impossible without someone from the State and someone from the FBI having a vested interest in keeping the killer quiet.
But we are talking about Jennings, LA.
And as I posted in another thread on this, when looking at the BR serial killers, Sean Vincent Gillis murdered 8 women. Check out the wiki on this sick, sick man. He kept severed body parts and photographs of dead women for a decade before finally being caught because he had a unique set of tires on his vehicle that were only produced over a 3-year period and only 90 sets were sold in the greater BR area. His first victim was even murdered in her retirement home.

Again, I'd much rather (name a large city) PD investigating murder than Jefferson Davis Sheriff's Office, but there's only so much evidence around, and sometimes it's hard to stick. Which is pretty horrifying, but I have come to accept it. Perhaps I am wrong.

My mom and new step dad moved us from Vidalia to Lafayette when I was 4. I will be eternally grateful for this.

Yeah, out of all the stupid shite in this thread, that might be the stupidest post.

It's right above the idiots who are judging a place.. or considering it "trashy" all because of this one situation.
