Rolex Explorer I:
Downsized back to the classic 36mm, newest Rolex 3230 movement inside, includes a two-tone for the grandpa in your life. MSRP $6,450 for stainless or $10,800 for two-tone.
Tudor Black Bay Chrono:
This is the home run. It's going to be the Daytona for the guy who can't get his hands on a Daytona IMO. MSRP $5,225 on bracelet.
And for the OT ballers, an olive green Patek Philippe Nautilus for the low, low price of $35,000
Of course I'll be buying none of these:

Unless you've spent 100s of thousands at a Patek dealer, you have no chance to buy that Nautilus.
They're worth 6 figures already on the grey market before being available

The price is the same for any buyer at an AD it is the opportunity to buy that is the issue. Outside the TT EXP I there will be a waitlist.
The Patek is a 5711, which they just announced will be discontinued at the end of this year. Green is the new black in watches this year and that 5711 will be unobtanium for most and will have a price over $100k in the secondary market, I say over $125k by the end of the year. A unworn blue 5711 is roughly $110k now on the secondary market and likely will continue to go up and they have been in production for 15 years.
ETA I just got an email back from my AD and green 5711. I emailed him last night about 5 minutes after the press embargo was over and I was the 14th inquiry he got. He said it could make me 5th in line but likely will only get one or at best 2. He said he hasn't gone through all the emails yet but he said it looks like he got over 50 regarding the 5711 before he opened this morning.

Yep. For example, you could probably by a Rolex Submariner for MSRP....if you could find an AD with one to sell. I suspect it may not be that hard to get the Tudor at MSRP

Stainless subs are very hard to get these days too and are usually set aside for better customers; With the exception of a few highly desirable models, you can expect a discount on Tudors.

Good to see they're bringing Explorer back to dainty femboys.

I really like this new Breitling. But with a $10K+ price tag I will continue to like it from afar

At least that's got multiple functions whereas the Rolex is just some plain Jane rig for the same price.

worth more than 3x MSRP of $35,000

The fact the Nautilus and in particular the 5711 is one of the hottest watches on the planet and you could sell that one for 3 times the MSRP the day you picked it up from the dealer. That green one will be extremely limited.
Here is a link to a used blue 5711 from one of the major resellers. Price $95k

That 18k is butt ugly, sorry. And I'm not sure how I feel about a sterling silver watch...

I have an old Patek Philippe from the 1950's that was left to me.
Posted on 4/7/21 at 1:21 pm to VABuckeye
I will stick with this classic.

It is a luxury item. Which by definition means it's not a necessity from a purely functional standpoint. Pateks are incredibly well made (all in-house) watches...which is very much a skill, but you are largely paying for the name (one of, if not the most luxurious brand in watches) and a degree of exclusivity. Just like anything else you can't judge luxury items based SOLELY on functionality.
A Rolls Royce and a Toyota Camry both perform essentially the same function (transportation) same as a Rolex and a Timex. But with each you are mostly paying for the decades of goodwill, brand recognition, and exclusivity. That's why it is a LUXURY item. No one NEEDS a $35k watch just like no one NEEDS a $400k vehicle

I don't think it is ugly though I don't wear colored watches. I do think the audience would have been wider if they just did the Harrod's SE colorway on a bronze watch.
Silver is a poor choice for a tool watch, especially a dive watch functionally. I will read 1000 comments deriding the choice because of that by WISs who have never even had on a mask and fins. I am curious to see how it looks in person, they did a good job with keeping their bronze watches from "aging". If it has the sort of gray industrial color like say tantalum it might look really cool in the metal.
