We used to play "Vietnam" on the playground and shoot each other with imaginary guns.
We had the toy M-16s. The sounds they made were awesome.

Jump Sticks
Wasn’t a game, but we used to challenge each other to races on the diamond, home to home running opposite directions

Hide The Belt.... someone took their belt off and hid it while everyone else waited on “base”. Once hidden, he would yell GO and everyone started looking for the belt. Whoever found the belt was allowed to whip anyone playing as much as they wanted until they all returned to “base”. He would then hide the belt and start over again. Gave and received many a big, red welts playing that game!!!! Probably would be frowned on In today’s schools!!

Marbles- keepsies- I hit your marble, I take it.
In third grade at Christ the King, I had every marble in the grade level before getting called into the office and Sr. Judith made me give them all back.
She must have been a socialist!

I thought it was pretty well accepted that a bouncing kickball increased the risk of a home run if the kicker caught it right during the bounce.
True but gave you some he wouldn’t. A smooth roll was over the monkey bars every time for Reuben.

Mercy - Grip hands and make the other person call Mercy first.

Octopus was the goat!
Played on the gym floor. One person was the octopus and the rest of the class had to make it to the other side of the court without being tagged. If you were tagged, you had to sit down and use your arms to tag others when the remaining people made another pass. The original octopus could still run around and tag. I was always one of the last remaining.

We called this game Rough Tumble Fumble.
We eventually changed our rules to where the kid with the ball, once tackled, had to toss the ball straight up in the air. That's when things got really ugly
