This is assuming he knew the killer lived next door and had a family. This is assuming a lot of BS.

Even if he did say he had a gun, once the killer left the premises the rest is bullshite.

If someone told you "I have a gun" are you going to leave a building and then go back in to said building knowing the guy had a weapon and wanted to kill you???

I just saw the story last night. They didn't say he was threatening and even if he was I doubt he had a gun on him in the shower. The man successfully removed himself from the threat. The man willingly returned to the threat. I know a certain type of poster on here loves to fantasize about killing someone but your boy is going to prison and rightfully so.

What do you do? Wait till he comes out of the shower? Stick your head in there to verify if he indeed does have a gun or not? Or shoot first and ask questions later?

Even in that scenario he still would have been able to go home and call the cops and kept lookout for the guy leaving the other house.

See my link above. Homeowner said the guy made threats.

Willing to bet your life on that? That's what people are saying the homeowner should have done.

How do you know that the threat wasn't made until the second time the homeowner confronted him?

Not my boy, I am not defending him, but I wouldn't be so quick to judge if I didn't know what threats were made.

I do however believe that if you are in the process of committing a felony, breaking and entering, threatening a homeowner, and get your self shot, then it is probably more on you.

Anyone who has learned gun safety understands that if you can reasonably avoid shooting a person, then don't shoot.

The homeowner felt violated and angry; he did NOT feel endangered because he left and then went back, period. He shot an unarmed drunk (probably schizophrenic) through a shower curtain. He now has messes in his life and bathroom that were totally avoidable.

I fully support people protecting themselves, but the homeowner had terrible judgement and his actions were cowardly.

Well as for I'm concerned this is murder.

Lieutenant Adams added that, other than an exchange of words, there was no indication that Mr. Fanning was threatened or that Mr. Rosa was armed. He said he did not believe that the two men were familiar with each other. Mr. Fanning owns two adjoining buildings on the property, one of which he uses to run an internet-based business, the police said.

I bet he wouldn't have shot a hot female intruder.

As would any person with a slightest amount of common sense would. The one person who disagrees is trolling this thread.

You keep glancing over the fact that he had already left the house. When he decided to return and kill the man, willingly reinserting himself into the situation, all without even calling 911, he fricked up. Bigly. Had he just called the cops first he would probably be fine. And you can't tell me he didn't have a chance to call when he walked back home and retrieved his gun. I support stand your ground laws but they assume a responsible gun owner. From the info that's been released, he just straight up dropped the ball.

Again, how do you know that he didn't feel threatened when he went back. This is the scenario:

Homeowner: get out of my house, I am going to get my gun.

Felon: Garble garble garble

Homeowner leaves and comes back with gun

Homewoner: get out of my house

Felon: garble garble have a gun garble kill you garble

Do you have a right to protect your home from a felon in the act of committing a felony and threatening you?

I don't know, it sounds like he just wanted to kill someone really bad. Even if it was a female he probably would have killed them through the shower curtain also. Before knowing if she was hot or not.

Maybe the shower guy pulled the stiff one eye on the home owner and he was fearful for his butthole

If he felt threatened he wouldn't have gone back. Stop the stupidity already.

And?

from a felon in the act of committing a felony

You make a lot of assumptions and try to base your ridiculous arguments based on your stupid assumptions. The victim (deceased) was a teacher, not a felon.

I'm not trolling. I'm just saying if you get drunk, break into someone's home, threaten the homeowner, and get yourself shot, did you not at least partially bring that upon yourself?

This is the dumbest thing I have heard in this thread. If you break into someones home are you not committing a felony, therefore making you a felon? Think before you type please.

But he did retreat to his living residence, got the gun, and then went back and shot the guy who was still apparently showering. THEN he called the police.

While true, if you do actually make the decision to retreat from your home, are you allowed to go back in and just start shooting?
