It’s funny

Then they say mask your fricking 3 year old. So, are they effectively saying we should have always masked our kids?
First, I agree masking kids is dumb as frick.
But I think their argument is to mask kids mainly to stop the spread so it doesn't reach more people in more vulnerable groups.
It's all dumb because those people have every chance to get vaccinated.

350 covid Peds deaths last year
Flu averages 400 usually
I think a lot of kids get minor flu cases just like covid, you just never tested your kid before the year 2020 when he had a slight sniffle

It’s not my 3 year old and 5 year olds burden in life to protect an adult. They need to take their own precautions

They're not vulnerable, this sentence is totally contradicted by this entire article. This is bizarre that people don't notice this.

Christ why is this so fricking hard!? If you are afraid of it, get the shot so the rest of the goddamned world can go on living.

I'll say this as a vaccinated person, a person that believes in ultimate vaccine choice, a person that thinks the vaccine is very safe, and a parent of an 8 yr old.
Anyone that gives this vaccine to a child under the age of 18 (and at that point the individual's choice kicks is) should be evaluated for clinical insanity. It is simply a nuisance for most children that get it. The hospitalization and death numbers for that age group bear that out. I don't worry about my unvaccinated daughter going anywhere unmasked and unvaccinated....this includes school, camp, etc.
When I hear that dumbass doctor from BR on JBE press conference last week say she would put her sub-16 year old child into a clinical trial for the vaccine if it came for BR I about lost my shite.....it that happens her child should be taken by DCFS.....I mean who willingly puts their child in a situation that has any chance (even .00000001%) to kill them. I certainly could not do it.

It's all dumb because those people have every chance to get vaccinated.
Is it then a toddler's responsibility to mask up during flu season to protect other toddler's & the elderly? Is it their responsibility to mask up during RSV season to protect those under 2?
Like you said, it's pretty dumb because anyone this is at risk has had the opportunity to take proactive measures to protect themselves. Sadly, most people think the only avenue is the vaccine; however, if they don't address their comorbidities the vaccine will only be able to go so far to protect them

Saying they fricked up implies they made a mistake. Considering they are getting what they wanted, did they make a mistake?

Not saying it directed at Salmon, but most people won't do that.

I 100% agree. I'm just clarifying what I think they're arguing in the article. I'm not masking my kids.

you people really have no idea my voting habits
I've voted for a "D" twice in my life, and both have been for super local positions for people that I actually knew (one was my neighbor) and neither were anything close to progressive Democrats
I've voted "R" the vast majority of my life, with "L" and "I" sprinkled in here and there

With the option for those people to get vaccinated that argument goes out the window. I'm all for ultimate vaccine choice, but in that choice you have to consider that no other group is going to take any "mitigation measures" to protect you. You can now protect yourself.

frick that article. Forcing masks on kids triggers the frick out of me.
They also act like unmasking in schools is some uncharted territory even though there is a huge dataset from the shite ton of schools that had a normal school year last year with no masks.
