Frank Underwood might be able to get you special passes to some attractions.

I agree you live there and agree about the Summers. I can have a personal opinion on Spring though whether you live there or not. Again, that has not been my personal experience.

I stayed at the Sofitel right by the White House. Very close to the Metro. I recommend flying into DCA since the blue line is connected to it. Definitely hit the Spy Museum as said above. Try and book your White House tour now. Natural History museum is the tits.

You can often find good deals on Hotels with groupon for up here

Also, I'm sure the White House will update their website for the easter egg roll (Depending on the age of your son that may or may not interest you )

I'm at DCA now waiting to fly back. Get something close to the metro. All day metro pass is $14/person. Worth the cost. We rented a 3br brown stone 2 blocks form a metro stop and we were happy

Also if u want a toor of WH and Capitol start settin it up now. Contact you r congressman a office.

Go to the newseum. It is huge and the Katrina and 9/11 displays will bring you to tears.

Newseum and Spy Museum were the only two places I paid to get in. Both very well worth it. Didn't know I could do genealogy at the National Archives.

I stayed in Alexandria Va when I went with the family. On same metro line as Reagan. No need to rent a car. Whatever you may need is a block or two from a metro stop.

make sure you go to the national zoo. Its a great experience for a little kid, and grown arse kids too.

I would Suggest Mt. Vernon as well. (you might want to rent a car for the day for that)

Zipcar might be a good option for you for how much you will need. I recommend getting your account set up now before you go if you don't already have one.

Zipcar has an application fee... I would think you could get a car on Hotwire for less than Zipcar Application Fee and 3 hours

Yeah true, the fees might not make it worth it.

Lived in dc for two years. My suggestion would be to stay in Arlington. Either in Clarendon or court house. Good safe places. Also every area will have good restaurants. DuPont circle and Chinatown have good places to eat.

Stay away from anacostia and all of NE DC.

Arlington is very safe.

I always stay in Crystal City. As said before, the Metro makes it all very close.

Don't rent a car. You can walk and use the metro to get anywhere you would want to go.

Yea what he said. I lived there for two years and didn't have a car the whole time I was there. DC's metro is the best and easiest to use in the US
