What is going on in this industry? We are still washing clothes the exact same way my grandmother did.
Some things just cannot be improved upon economically or realistically. Mouse trap is still the exact same.

Nothing wrong with today’s technology.

shite, all I want is for a washer and dryer to last as long as my parents machines did.

Call me old fashioned but I like having separate machines. Get one load drying and start the next load to wash.
That plus combing a shite load of water with electrical heating elements in one machine with parts made in China might not have the best outcome.

Get rid of all the energy efficiency and EPA bullshite.
Let's hope this thinking extends to outboards, heavy equipment, and OTR trucks.

I have an LG that washes and dries. There was a bit of a learning curve at first but now it’s pretty decent.
I wouldn’t recommend it for a bigger family but it works for us. The nicest thing is that I can put a load in at bedtime and in the morning it’s clean and dry. We use a clothesline in the warmer months so that’s cool.
These things are not for everyone but a family of three or if there are just two of you it might be worth considering.

Are you not married? That's one of a wife's core jobs.

She said it was either laundry or bj’s.
I should have been specific about how often though.

They’re not only at a standstill, they have regressed. Especially washers. I hate locking lids. Who doesn’t want to add the pair of dirty socks they just found to the load in the washer they just started five minutes ago? What happened to agitators?

Ge and LG have all in one units that use a fridge compressor to pull the moisture out the clothes. Goes from dirty to dry and clean in an hour. Then they have a machine that folds clothes but it's pricey.

I have the analog whirlpool white box washer and dryer and other than replacing a belt on the dryer, never had an issue in 10 years. It's amazing consumers don't prefer this, but instead prefer gadgets and electronics that break.
I have the Maytag version of the same units. I tell people all the time that they are still available, but they won’t buy them. When their unit craps out after 2.5 years, they still won’t buy them!
