I started in 2012. My sophomore year at LSU. The political board actually used to be great back then and even up to the 2016 general election. Hilary was hated, Trump and Bernie posts dominated.

Then Hilary and the DNC paid off Reddit and created a shitload of bot accounts. From that moment, no conservative thought was allowed.

Even amazing subs like r/cringe were phenomenal at first. Now any video is offensive and gets intentionally censored.

Now, it is only good for the sports subreddits. I get all my soccer news on there and from twitter. I get to see highlights. Same as the NFL subreddit and NBA. Highlights all the time without having to bear the ESPN ads. That is literally the only redeeming quality

I used to disagree with this, but I’ve come around to think that you’re spot on.

I hate that the bar I'm setting is simply "don't censor someone merely for saying something that is opposed to the consensus of the group", but that's just kind of where things stand now.

Those always crack me up

I get banned or they get deleted half the time. I have a new muse though (ChatGPT).

There were some very funny subreddits but there was a mass purge a couple years ago.

The original cumtown subreddit had some of the funniest and most offensive stuff you'll find on the internet. There were a few "alt right" subs that were hilarious as well.

They also ban you from subreddits for posts you’ve made on other subreddits

That’s what I was referring to, in the aftermath of the 2016 election if you had ever posted in The_Donald it was an auto-ban in 100+ subreddits. Shareblue is deeply entrenched in Reddit and it has stifled a lot of conversations.

How are Reddit moderators selected anyway?

Stop fricking reporting this. It's not sexualization of minors, it's not abuse or harassment. Those who keep reporting this are getting reported to admins for abuse of report button. Admins can and will permanently ban accounts for this.

Shareblue and other left PACs were putting their folks into moderator positions for Reddit was a start. No idea how much they’ve infiltrated but it’s bad now.

From a cursory glance, most of the popular subreddits seem to suffer from a quality perspective because the users seem to succumb to groupthink, enjoy censorship of alternate perspectives to whatever the consensus of the subreddit is, lack the use of critical thinking when putting forward responses and instead opting for recycled jokes, and easily succumb to emotional and infantile responses when confronted with even slight deviations out of the norm.

So it’s exactly like the OT and poliboard?

The major boards are usually hard left but if you get in to niche topics like growing orchids or some shite it can be very helpful. The home improvement board is pretty good, too.

I just used my last non-banned Reddit account to report that tranny post from r/NewOrleans for inciting violence.

I think this website has a conservative bent to it without question, but it doesn't seem as keen on active censorship like Reddit is, nor does getting downvotes hide your posts, so I think it is actually better for having a discussion on a topic then your average subreddit.

I've pondered that question over the years. Really, I've pondered the question of why leftist politics appeals to people at all.

My conclusion is that leftists are bitter failures. They're not attractive, important to anyone else, or even wealthy enough to indulge their most most basic desires. So, they want to one-up the rest of us. Tear it all down, declare it all "unsustainable" or "problematic," etc.

On Reddit, you have a lot of young people, so naturally they are not wealthy, successful, or happy. And there was a time when I would have ended my last statement with "yet," but in the case of Reddit in 2023 I think those people will *never* grow up. They will be man-child failures at 40, 50, 60, etc.

the new orleans subreddit is full of 35 year old bartenders who rent a room in a 7th ward shotgun and are experts on everything

If you seek out "conversation" about politics or social issues all you will find anywhere is pretty much an echo chamber for one group or another.

Reddit has some great niche subreddits that are good for legit info and discussion. These aren't dealing, as a rule, in politics and social issues.

Essentially, you get exactly what you pursue there.
