Absolutely do that, as you can probably drop your bp some. Trouble is, most people can’t stick with that kind of lifestyle long term.
I had a particularly stressful tome at work about 5 years ago. My blood pressure spiked up and I had a stroke one morning at the office. I stayed in ICU for a week and spent the next 6 months learning how to speak again.
I say all of that to stress that your blood pressure needs to be in the normal range now by whatever means necessary. Don’t game your readings, don’t promise you will start working out after new year, don’t start a diet after the holidays. Don’t skip your meds because they make you feel bad or because they are expensive. Get your blood pressure under control or you will be on the kidney transplant list or have a stroke.
Be aware that blood pressure meds are basically trial and error. It typically takes a few meds to find a combination the you can tolerate and are effective.

You didn't put on the weight overnight, so you won’t take off the weight overnight.

I have been on 20mg since I was 18 and fit. Sometimes high BP has nothing to do with being overweight. I haven't had any issues on it other than my doctor put me on 10mg a while back and it wasn't enough. I have accepted that i will be on this for the rest of my life.

Lisinopril made me cough all the time so I switched to Losartan.

Funny I didn't realize you could become addicted to BP meds.

How overweight are you? Lose weight and your BP will be fine. Being overweight is the cause of almost every disease that plagues Americans. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes, high BP, strokes, etc.
If you had the motivation to eat right and exercise, you would have done it already. Just get out and do it.
Did you know that you can take blood pressure medicine and have your BP under control, have “good numbers”, but still die from high blood pressure? Makes no sense at first. But does when you think about it. Doctors won’t help you. You have to change your habits.

This is 100 percent true but cutting out all carbs is not sustainable for most people. Carbs aren't evil but need to be extremely limited depending on activity level. The best sustainable way to get rid of visceral fat is to build muscle because it will raise your maintenance calories. Hard to put on a significant amount of muscle without carbs.

Google seems to show allot of people having issues with it, but I realize that folks not having issues will most likely not be online talking about it.
And recommendations for alternatives to BP meds?
Have you had your test levels checked?
