Let me start by saying that HELL IS TOO GOOD FOR THESE LOW LIFE piece of crap losers. Anyway, my mom called and said I needed to go to her bank and withdraw $2K and then go to Wal-Mart and send four $500 money grams to my nephew in Florida because she received a telephone call from him and he wrecked a friends car that he shouldn't have been driving? She sounded upset so I went to her house and I asked her "why would he be driving a car and he is 9 years old?" I've heard of this scam and my mom was so convinced she did not want me telling my brother because "my nephew" told her to not tell him. My mom said my nephew sounded weird and he explained to her that he had a cold. This is part of the reason I took my parents keys away about 6 months ago. If they would have had access to a vehicle, that 2 grand would have been long gone. I can't trace the call because it was a private number. It's sad to see an 82 year old woman cry and say "I can't believe I fell for that." The devil is real. My mom almost lost $2K to him today........

Dude, she's 82 and mentally vulnerable. I understand joking around but draw the line at children and the elderly.

My mom fell for something sort of similar. Someone called and said they were going to kill me or something if she didn't send them money. They told her they had my phone so if she tried to contact me before the money was sent they going to hurt me. She did it and it pissed me off. The was a few years ago.

82 and can barely breath on her oxygen. She has COPD. She was very bright at one time. Be careful bud. One day you MIGHT see 82 years.

I've gotten the "a warrant is out for your arrest, please call us ASAP" call a couple of times.

Scammers pay for database research to exploit the elderly of a certain financial class. Then they run background searches to get relatives names and addresses.

If you want to protect your older family members, get them a card/account with a maximum daily usage (~$100) without co-signature, for day to day expenditures. Then you manage the larger monthly payments yourself for them. I did this for my grandmother but everyone has their own "personalities" so it can be tough.

I love those calls. I will play along with them until they get sick of dealing with me and begin to cuss me out.

Come on up you are better than that. Difference between being funny and inconsiderate.
