His play is actually based on a very good biography by Ron Chernow LINK. Alexander Hamilton had an extraordinary life. I would highly recommend it.

I always recommend 'Kennedy' by Ted Sorensen.
Told from the point of view of Sorensen, JFK's speechwriter and personal confidant for so many years.
Incredible insight into JFK, and the time period, if you're interested in that, too.

To get a good overview of all of them, I would recommend the podcast Presidential
A woman for the WaPo did a weekly podcast on each president. The most fascinating episodes were the ones on the lesser known presidents. She is almost done. Today the W pod comes out i believe.

Chernow is a very good writer. He has a banking / finance background which made Hamilton a natural subject for him.

If you are looking for a quick read in between any of these suggestions, William Henry Harrison was only president for 32 days.
The biography of his time in office by Gail Collins is only 18 pages.
