We've rented points on almost all our trips the last four years. Once you go deluxe it's hard to go back.

Jelly
Yep.

I got tired of hearing so many great things that we decided we had to do it next year. Throw in another Disney race, and my wife was all for it.

I've been to Food & Wine twice. I could easily go and spend a week there only going to Epcot.

I think it 's this the hideous wig that they are made to wear. Plus that color pink ... Shades of a diabetic flamingo

I actually prefer Flower and Garden Festival. They've expanded the food options like crazy for this event and the crowds are a good bit smaller.

That's essentially our plan. Our DVC points allow us to rotate every 18 months from Beach Club to Bay Lake. We like to visit in May (Flower & Garden) and in Oct/Nov for F&W.

And better weather.

Now that our daughter is in Kindergarten, I'm going to miss those years we;ve been able to go in low crowd seasons of September, November, December and certain spots in the spring.

I've only been once but the DDP was well worth it IMO. The TA handles all the details as far as character dining reservations go and even scheduled us a quick service at Be Our Guest which was awesome for a quick service meal. I found the value to be outstanding especially with kids free.

Interesting. We found it to be severely overrated.

Your TA can schedule all your dining whether you have the DDP or not, so no value there. Beyond that, it's reaally hard for people to come out financially better on the DDP.
Free dining when staying at a value resort is one way, usually paired with no signature meals, no breakfasts and all table service be character dining.

I found a chart that had the value at each restaurant and used it to book our reservations but it still seemed like we will only barely come out ahead

Not to mention, I'd almost rarely order dessert anyway, so it's probably a wash.

This. Now, the convenience factor of having your meals prepaid for you may be worth something depending on who you talk to. I can't argue that it isn't convenient.

Regular dining for a family of four (2 adutls and 2 kids) is right about $160 per day. Breakfast at Chef Mickeys (not that I recommend it) is $40 per adult and $20 ish for the kid, so you're about $120 there, plus snacks $20) and quick service $50). So, if you look dollar for dollar it LOOKs like you're coming out ahead.

But, would you really order all that food (then not get the other things you want NOT on the ddp) and spend that money if you didn't have the DDP? Likely not.

This is spot on. Typically we don't. On vacation MAYBE we would get 1 app and 1 dessert at dinner. But we don't have that option. If they gave that, I might change my opinion...but only slightly. Plus, with the regular dining plan you have to eat a table service meal once a day (on average). We usually go to 2 or 3 in a week long trip right now. So it definitely doesn't help us.

Us too...we like sweets, but we like them other places. Ice Cream brioche from France, Cronut, Fruit waffle. So, I am left to choose....do I still order the things I want (then pay more than what I already paid) and if I do, do I make myself miserable and eat the other dessert too or just skip the dessert negating the "value".

The other thing is how much my wife and I split things when we go, especially when we do signature dining. We will go to Cali Grill and get two apps, one large salad and one entree. Cant do that on DDP.

Also, BlueZoo, Shulas, Kimono, etc. all not an option on the DDP and BlueZoo is one of our favorites (plus comes with free daycare)

The way I look at it is we don't eat breakfast and bring the kids stuff in the room. We use the quick service for lunch everyday at places like Be Our Guest. Every night we do character dining some of the ones that come to mind that stood out were Akershus, Crystal Palace, Tusker House, and Hollywood and Vine. Had a great time at everyone of those places with Akershus and Tusker House being my favorite.

For the snack typically we got the frozen lemonade because of how hot it was. With my wife's snack we would get a Venti caramel Frapaccino because that's what she likes. My kids although 2 and 1 sometimes eat more than my wife and I it's insane. It's free for them so a huge plus.
